  • Patent number: 8682853
Abstract: A system and method for enhancing data throughput in data warehousing environments by connecting multiple servers having local storages with designated external storage systems, such as, for example, those provided by SANs. The system and method may preserve a full reference copy of the data in a protected environment (e.g., on the external storage system) that is fully available. The system and method may enhance overall I/O potential performance and reliability for efficient and reliable system resource utilization.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 16, 2008
Date of Patent: March 25, 2014
    Assignee: Paraccel LLC
Inventors: Barry M. Zane, David Steinhoff

  • Publication number: 20060085491
Abstract: One aspect of the invention relates to a system and method for quickly and efficiently recovering from an interruption that occurs when modifying and loading a dataset. One or more editions of the dataset may be created prior to performing a modification to files. These editions may include one or more of a draft edition, an approved edition, and/or other editions. A draft edition may be an edition of a database or dataset, wherein a dataset may be its own database. The draft edition may be used for implementing desired changes. An approved edition may be implemented for storing changes a user may want to keep safe before publishing the changes made in the draft edition. A published edition may be implemented to allow authorized users to view published data. Modifications are made to the draft edition, protecting the integrity of the published dataset editions and/or other editions.

  • Patent number: 6879984
Abstract: An analytical database system provides access to all of the data collected by an entity in interactive time. The analytical database system transforms relational database data. The relational database is denormalized and inverted such that the data fields of tables in the relational database are stored in separate files that contain a row number field and a single data field. At least one of the files, that contains repeating data values that are stored in successive rows, is compressed. The files include files with partition values and files with analytical data. Processing of the files is distributed by creating sub-rowsets of the files and by assigning the sub-rowsets to servers. The partial result sets are merged into a complete result set.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: April 12, 2005
    Assignee: Clareos, Inc.
