  • Publication number: 20100298916
Abstract: The implantable monopolar electrode assembly includes a base support structure including a layer made of a nickel titanium alloy having a temperature memory. The method is directed to electro-stimulation of muscles and to a method of implanting a monopolar electrode assembly. The method includes the steps of: first performing an endoscopic approach to the nerves and then selective electro stimulation by performing a neurolysis on nerve trunks until a desired target nerve fascicle and associated muscle is located, followed by insertion of the monopolar electrode assembly adjacent the target nerve fascicle for subsequent connection to a neurposthesis system.

  • Patent number: 4186494
Abstract: Retractable feeler arms are disposed at uniform angular intervals around a central frame and elastically coupled to the frame for radial withdrawal or outward extension and displacement in a general movement of translation of the device. In the operating position, the tips of the feeler arms are maintained in contact with the cylindrical surface to be measured and differential measurements of the end positions of the feeler arms are taken by means of electrical detectors.

  • Patent number: 4169467
Abstract: An orthopaedic appliance which enables paralytics to stand erect has a pllity of separate pieces of clothing to be fitted around body parts located between joints, the pieces having an inflatable support structure in the form of vertical tubes, and including belts formed of two strips of cloth fastened to opposite sides of the support structure, and devices inter-connecting pieces of clothing located on opposite sides of a body joint in the form of two rows of pins attached to the inflatable structures of the pieces of clothing and a mechanical articulation interconnecting the rows of pins. The inflatable tubes have generally rectangular cross-sections and the widths of the tubes of each support structure decrease symmetrically from the center to the side edges of the structure. The supporting devices connecting pieces of clothing on opposite sides of the hip joint have one row of pins detachably connected to the mechanical articulation.

  • Patent number: 4017978
Abstract: A multidetector is constituted by a lattice of N rods each having a ferromagnetic portion and slidably mounted within N coils forming the secondary windings of a transformer, each detector being constituted by a rod associated with a coil. The common primary circuit of the transformer is formed by a single coil which surrounds the N secondary windings and is supplied with alternating current of constant amplitude. The rods are brought into contact with an object for taking an impression of a portion of its external surface. The N voltages developed at the terminals of the N secondary coils are transmitted sequentially by a multiplexer to the screen of a storage oscilloscope so as to form the impression by means of N points, a coordinate of each point being a linear function of the voltage developed at the terminal of the corresponding secondary coil.
