  • Patent number: 10613855
Abstract: The disclosed embodiments provide a system for processing data. During operation, the system obtains a user-defined function (UDF) that is defined using a standard UDF interface for accessing multiple platforms. Next, the system converts data in a platform into a standard form that is supported by the standard UDF interface using a platform-specific wrapper for the UDF and a platform-specific implementation of the standard UDF interface. The system then generates output data in the standard form by applying one or more operations to the data in the standard form. Finally, the system converts the output data into a platform-specific form that is supported by the platform and returns the output data in the platform-specific form.

  • Publication number: 20170039086
Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus are provided for determining an appropriate time to disrupt operation of a computer system, subsystem, or component, such as by shutting it down or taking it offline. Historical measurements of work accumulated on the component at different times are used to generate one or more forecasts regarding future amounts of work that will accumulate at different times. Accumulated work may include all job/tasks (or other executable objects) that have been initiated but not yet completed at the time the measurement is taken, and may be expressed in terms of execution time and/or component resources (e.g., cpu, memory). When a request is received to disrupt component operations, based on an urgency of the disruption a corresponding accumulated work threshold is chosen to represent the maximum amount of accumulated work that can be in process and still allow the disruption, and the disruption is scheduled accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20060143533
Abstract: There is provided a system and apparatus for testing software products. The apparatus includes a manager that (a) receives a request to run a test of a software product, and communicates with a resource to load the software product into the resource, and to automatically configure the software product for the test. There is also provided a system including the manager and a test automator. The test automator (a) receives the request to run the test from the manager, and (b) runs the test on the software. There is further provided a storage medium including instructions for controlling a processor to (a) receive a request to run a test of a software product, and (b) communicate with a resource to load the software product into the resource, and to automatically configure the software product for the test.
