Shock absorber for a forearm protecting device

This invention concerns a forearm protecting and shock absorbing device (120) covering the forearms from the base of the elbow to the wrist providing protection against attacks with truncheons, even with bladed weapons in various situations. The device may cover only the cubital part (30) of the forearm which is the vulnerable part. The whole device is supported on a covering portion (132) with a surface with a wave-absorbing cushion (134) consisting of Kevlar fibers or similar fibers capable of dispersing a shock wave over a larger surface. The covering portion is provided with sharp-edged points (128) inserted within it.

Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

This invention concerns the security domain and particularly forearm protecting devices which are used as means of self-defense or as a method of controlling criminals.

PRIOR ART

A search in the prior art revealed some systems that caught our attention:

U.S. Pat. No. 6,432,513 “PROTECTOR PADS” by Thomsen P. Neils and Byrne P. Joseph issued on Aug. 13, 2002; discloses a device used in sports including an outer protector (11) adapted to at least partially assume the shape of the area to be protected and an inner shock absorbing pad (12) in the form of an air cushioned pad.

U.S. Pat. No. 6,094,743 “DEFLECTOR-ARM PROTECTOR” by Steve Delgado issued on Aug. 1, 2000; discloses an arm protector device to protect athletes by wrapping around the entire arm from the hand to the shoulder. Several humps wrapped in a cushion reduce the impact of blows from spherical objects, used particularly in baseball. The device can be adapted to protect any vulnerable portion of the human body.

U.S. Pat. No. 11,605,972 “ARM PROTECTOR” by D. Shumate and W. Shumate filed on Nov. 22, 2006; discloses an apparatus (10) for protecting against subcutaneous bleeding and skin tears in persons taking medications. An outer portion (18) extend along the forearm, a strap (22) attached to an outer leather portion extends between a thumb and an index finger of such wearer.

U.S. Pat. No. 4,635,300 743 “KARATE GLOVE” by Jhoon Goo Rhees issued on Jan. 13, 1987; a flexible protective glove used in martial arts.

OBJECTIVES AND ADVANTAGES

A general objective of this invention is to provide a device for protecting forearms and comprising a covering portion with a surface made from composite materials and provided with sharp-edged points inserted on a shock-absorbent cushion wrapping. The device is light and allows someone who carries it, like an agent of safety or a police officer, to keep his hands free and to control a criminal by a technique of control by a pain. The device goes under clothing and offers a means for covering the ulnar side of a forearm for defense, and the radial side to retain or immobilize a criminal. The device is made in different lengths and each piece can be encase in another piece to cover a part of the forearm or all the forearm from the wrist to the elbow.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS

In the following description and in the drawings included, the similar numbers refers to identical parts in the various figures.

FIG. 1 shows at a top part a sharp-edged point 130 of two pillar legs of a defensive rods 128, with an acute part 126 disposed at its base on a shock absorbing portion 132 provided with a flat surface 134 made from composite materials such as: resistant plastic, polycarbon or other lightweight material. A concavity 124 is for the purpose of spreading the shock absorbing portion 132 over a bottom 122. The bottom has an extension 133 appearing as a slope.

A lower part of FIG. 1 shows a top view of the combination defensive rods 128 embedded in a support 120. A laid out rectangular piece of a length 136 and embedded longitudinally at the ends one in another, one end being a female part 140 and another end a male part 138. A joint 144 allows attaching along a forearm one device with another device by inserting joint 144 of the first device in the hole 142 of the second device. The extensions provided as a male part 138 and female part 140 are coming essentially from the cutting of the slope 133. A removal part 129 is for the purpose of cutting down the weight of defensive rod 120, thereby creating two legs 128 under the sharp-edged point 130.

FIG. 2 shows a front view of a triangular rod 131 which is of a triangular form with a thickness delimited by sides 146 and 148, external and internal. The sharp-edged point 130 is appearant as well as the removal part 129.

FIG. 3 shows a cut view of a defensive rod 127 which is of a rectangular form 190 with a thickness delimited by sides 146 and 148 and inserted from the base 151 to the length 153 on the shock absorbing portion 132 made from composite materials such as: resistant plastic, polycarbon. One sees the removal part 129.

FIG. 4 shows the protecting device 120 inserted in membranes 156 above and 154 below. The shock absorbing portion 132 is disposed on internal face 152 of the membrane 154. One sees between two devices a mobile part to facilitate junction between two sharp-edges. The shock absorbing portion 132 wraps the forearm with bottom part 122 who is in contact with the skin of the arm.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

A combination of wrappings 120 for a limb being protected by defensive rods 128, the combination comprising:

    • a first membrane 154, for adapting to the skin,
    • a second membrane 156 for overall covering,
    • a shock absorbing portion 132 on which the defensive rods 128 are posed,
    • the defensive rods 128 are inserted between the two membranes 154, 156 and disposed at their base on the shock absorbing portion 132.

The shock absorbing portion 132 is being made from composite materials such as: resistant plastic, polycarbon or other lightweight material, and is provided with a flat surface 134 adapted to receive an impact from the defensive rod 128.

The shock absorbing portion 132 comprises at its ends 133 means for mutual insertion 138, 140 for continuous wrapping around a limb and is provided with a receiving portion 151 and a bearing distance 153 thereby creating a 90° angle support.

The defensive rods 128 comprise a removal part 129 thereby releasing foot bases 151 with two pillar legs 128 and they are provided with an acute angle 126 for being retained by a reentrant portion 135.

The shock absorbing portion 132 comprises a bottom part 122 with a concavity 124 thereof, the spreading of extension 133 of the shock absorbing portion 132 elongating the concavity 124 and releasing the reentrant portion 135, thereby permitting the securing of the pillar legs 128.

A device comprising an apex sharp-edge point 130 and two defensive legs 127 originating from the apex 130. The device is provided with a shock absorbing portion 132 for being used in combination with means for wrapping a limb and is intended to be used as means of self-defense or for attacking a criminal by applying a pressure using an armed limb. The device being installed inside those means for wrapping. The shock absorbing portion 132 comprises:

    • a bottom surface 123 adapted to be in contact with the skin,
    • receiving portions 151 adapted to receive the two legs by inserting them from their base to a certain length 153, thereby locking and securing the legs for receiving an impact from the defensive leg rods,
    • a concavity portion 124′ between the two legs 127 to facilitate the insertion of the two legs in the shock absorbing portion 132.

The two defensive legs 127 being in metal or other hard material and being defined in a reversed V-shape with a thickness delimited by two sides 146, 148 and a removal part 129 between the two legs, a sharp-edged point 130 defining the junction between the two legs 127.
