Abstract: A ballistic armored component attaches to the existing retention straps of common combat helmets and provides protection to the otherwise exposed lower skull and upper neck region. A fabric covering contains a soft armor or hard armor insert, and is mounted by straps or other fasteners to existing straps found in conventional helmets. The armored component adds additional protection from ground-level or subterranean munitions, by placing a ballistic shape on the lower skull region (occipital region), providing significant additional ballistic coverage with minimal weight and bulk. The fabric shell may also be connected directly to the helmet shell, to allow the component to withdraw within the helmet when the wearer's neck is flexed rearwardly.

The protective glove includes a glove made of a metal mesh, a flat spring attached to an inner surface of the glove in the wrist region and an elastic element disposed in a channel of the metal mesh at the end of the glove where the wearer inserts or removes a hand. The elastic element can be an extension spring or a second flat spring. The flat spring contracts to a wrist or a forearm to secure the glove to the wearer. The elastic element contracts to gather the metal mesh so that the metal mesh does not slide or otherwise move to expose the flat spring. Advantageously, the flat spring remains covered by the metal mesh and is prevented from catching a tool or other external object.

Abstract: An adjustable protective head cover, including first and second earpieces, a canopy configured to cover the top of a wearer's head when spread, a plurality of ribs curved to substantially follow the curvature of the top of a wearer's head and pivotally secured on opposite ends to opposite earpieces. The ribs are secured to evenly spaced portions of the canopy whereby the ribs are pivotally spread apart in a substantially uniformly spacing when the canopy is spread with the front and rear ribs at the front and rear of the spread canopy. A plastic waffle band having a zigzag configuration is secured to the underside of the canopy and adapted to configure the canopy in pleats when the ribs are pivoted together. Front and rear brims are secured to the canopy at the front and rear ribs, and connectors on the front and rear brims releasably connect the brims together with the canopy in a pleated configuration therebetween when the ribs are pivoted together in the closed position.

The pants support structure has a support body with a first and second edge with at least one fastening member on the first edge. The fastening member is a hook that receives a belt and lies over the pants so that the pair of pants is cinched between the support body and the belt. The support body has an opening for receiving the button of the pants to provide further force to cinch the pants between the fastening member and the support body.

Abstract: A pant leg retaining device is disclosed. The device includes one ore more strips of stretchable material, forming a central portion and two pairs of diverging members therefrom. Each of the diverging members have a free end to which is affixed a securement means wherein, when the central portion is placed under the foot, each diverging member is adapted to be positioned adjacent to a wearer's ankle bone and attached via the securement means to the pant leg of a wearer.

Abstract: A suspenders system having at least one magnetic clasp comprising a strong permanent magnet attached to a suspenders arrangement that allows most of the suspenders to be worn underneath a wearer's clothing. With the suspenders arrangement in place, the only exterior elements of the suspenders system are either ferrous metal belt attachments or matching permanent magnet buttons. The magnetic clasp underlays at lease one layer of clothing allowing the suspenders system to be worn in a concealed fashion.

By tilting about an axis of rotation the covers partially or completely release the venting openings. Abstract: A structure for securing a secondary goggle frame is provided. The structure is characterized by a connector configured for connecting the secondary goggle frame to a primary goggle frame. The primary goggle frame has a central nose support whose inner edge is formed with plural ribs for engaging with plural recesses on a side of the connector. The secondary goggle frame has an engaging section which can be inserted in a groove of the connector such that a fastening portion of the secondary goggle frame is fastened with a fastening hole of the connector. The components of the structure are simple and can be easily assembled to allow the secondary goggle frame fitted with vision correction lenses to be securely and stably positioned in the primary goggle frame.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention are directed to hygienic devices to control the spread of airborne viruses and bacteria emanating from coughing or sneezing. In one embodiment, the hygienic device is a cough and sneeze arrestor in the form of a “coughing cup.” The coughing cup may incorporate one or more filters with a plurality of apertures of varying sizes and/or no apertures. In some embodiments, the filters may be embedded or infused with a microbicide such as an antibacterial or viricide. The filters may be pre-attached within the coughing cup at certain predetermined locations. The coughing cup may have one or more recesses to accommodate the nose and/or a chin of a person when using the coughing cup.

Abstract: A lavatory is disclosed which dispenses water from its front side. The lavatory comprises a single body with a concavity for receiving water and a faucet port on the front side through which water may flow into the concavity. A solenoid valve, which is located underneath the sink body, receives water from a water supply and, when actuated, supplies water to the concavity of the sink body via the faucet port. Actuation of the solenoid valve is effected by one or more proximity switches which detect when a user is in proximity to the front side of the lavatory. The lavatory may also comprise a mixer valve which is located underneath the sink body and which is interposed between the water supply and the solenoid valve. The mixer valve functions to receive hot and cold water inputs from the water supply, to combine those hot and cold water inputs and to the combined hot and cold water to the solenoid valve.

A pair of mounting plates each including a first and second bracket is mounted on opposite ends of a cavity in the article of furniture. The brackets include a U-shaped slot configured to accept a fixture having an enlarged head. A retaining tab is included within one or more of the brackets to retain the fixture therein. The first brackets are located rearwardly of the second brackets and at an angle such that the slot therein is tilted forwardly. The second brackets are oriented to provide a generally vertical orientation to the slots therein. A foldable-bed unit having fixtures corresponding to each of the brackets is installed into the article of furniture by inserting corresponding fixtures into the first brackets. The foldable-bed unit is rotated to insert the remaining fixtures into the second brackets.

Control panels may be mounted on the siderails in a staggered fashion to improve the ease of accessing the control panels. A handle assembly may be included near the top of the Fowler section of the deck which allows a pair of handles to be squeezed independently for manual pivoting of the Fowler section. Squeezing one handle does not increase the force required to subsequently squeeze the other handle. The pivoting of the Fowler section may also be carried out automatically through an electrical actuator. The raising of the deck may be carried out through an electrical pump that pumps hydraulic fluid, and which may be activated near the top end of the stroke of a reciprocating pedal.

Embodiments provide for adjusting the separation distance between the axis of rotation and the center of gravity defined by the combination of the person and the supporting platens.

The disclosed invention is particularly adaptable as a support cushion in the form of a mattress, mattress cover, seat cushion, or seat cushion cover and can be combined with any mattress or seat to provide temperature modulated, inflating and deflating cellular support cushions. Two components of the disclosed invention are critical.

Abstract: A swaddling blanket for infants, particularly newborn infants, and more particularly for premature infants, comprises an inner blanket and an outer blanket. Each of the inner and outer blankets comprises three flap members such that when all three flap members of the inner blanket, and all three flap members of the outer blanket, are folded over the infant, the infant is comfortably enclosed within six blanket layers in order to provide the infant with the requisite amount of warmth. The baby is also placed upon a support cushion effectively built into the swaddling blanket such that the baby's head, neck, and spinal regions are adequately supported.

Abstract: An apparatus and a method for decolorizing a denim fabric with an oxidizing gas is disclosed. The process is initiated by producing compressed air which is processed to generate dry air. The air pressure of dry air is reduced to maintain at 10 psig and thereby generates ozone gas. A negative pressure is maintained to ensure no ozone leak out to ambient from a washer. The denim fabric may be exposed to a controlled amount of ozone gas for a predetermined time such as a process time. Whenever the process time expires, the amount of ozone gas is converted back to oxygen by running a variable speed motor at high speed to create a negative pressure within the processing unit and released to atmosphere. The method also incorporates a means for monitoring the level of ozone concentration in ambient for the safety of operators.

Abstract: A textile dyeing process for dyeing cellulosic fibers and polyester and their respective blends with other fibers in recycled dyeing baths without carrying out any intermediate depuration treatment and using reactive and direct dyes for the cellulosic fibers and dispense dyes for polyester. The process recycles both the water already used in a previous dyeing cycle and all added products that have not been absorbed by the textile substrate, as well as the rest of the disperse dyes that had not been depleted in the previous dyeing cycles.

Abstract: Compositions and methods relating to the use of pigment compositions are revealed, which can be used to impart color to hair. For instance, treatment formulations that include a pigment-functionalized cationic polymer can be utilized. In some particular instances, a plurality of serially applied treatment formulations is used to improve the characteristics of hair coloring. In addition, other formulations or treatments, such as one or more sealing compositions, or a final coating formulation can also be used to impart other desired characteristics such as treatment durability. Other components of various formulations/compositions are also discussed. Processes for using such compositions/formulations are disclosed. Along with the compositions, kits can be assembled where various compositions/formulations are compartmentalized for storage until the time for application.
