Abstract: Body armor for ballistic protection of a user's extremities preferably comprising right and left arm protection units and/or right and left leg protection units. The units include a ballistic protection material which preferably covers most of the user's upper arm, elbow region, lower arm, shoulder, upper leg, knee region, and lower leg except for ventilation zones preferably located on the inner portion of the upper arm and the inner part of the upper leg. The back of the knee is preferably covered by a protective flap.

Abstract: An apparatus comprising a multi-layered armor. The multi-layered armor includes a stack of layers, each layer including a mesh of fibers of first polymer molecules, surfaces of the fibers being functionalized by at least one of hydroxyl, ketone, and amine groups. The multilayered armor also includes second polymer molecules being hydrogen bonded to the fiber surfaces, some of the second polymer molecules having hydroxyl, ketone, amine or carboxylic acid groups. The multilayered armor further includes a composition of third polymer molecules molded over the stack.

Abstract: A ballistic vest having a front ballistic panel and a rear ballistic panel conformed to the body of a wearer by a stretchable outer garment located over the ballistic panels. The back ballistic panel includes an elongated side portion configured to provide ballistic protection for the side of a female wearer's breast. The ballistic vest further includes a three-dimensional chest trauma plate.

Abstract: Multi-panel ballistic resistant articles formed from woven and/or non-woven fibrous panels, each panel including varying quantities of a polymeric composition based on the total weight of the fibers and the polymeric composition. The hybrid structures provide excellent ballistic penetration resistance while maintaining a low weight. The ballistic resistant articles may be strategically positioned to dial in different levels of desired ballistic resistance for various applications.

Abstract: A protective member is disclosed which is intended for wearing on the forearm of a wearer when gardening The protective member includes a sleeve of generally tubular construction that is of an extended length. The sleeve is formed of a fabric that is flexible, resilient, and somewhat stretchable. The sleeve includes open distal and proximal ends and is adapted to fit snugly over the forearm of the wearer. The fabric retains a memory of the shape of the wearer's forearm so that after repeated uses by the wearer, the sleeve tends to be form fitting while wearing. The sleeve is dimensioned to extend approximately from the wrist to at least the elbow of the wearer. The distal end defines a single opening allowing the wearer's hand to fully protrude therethrough. The distal and proximal ends of the tubular sleeve are elasticized to grip the wearer's forearm.

Abstract: The invention provides a bib and apron apparatus having a first member defining a bib sized to be fitted around a user's neck and a second member defining an apron sized to cover the user's body between the stomach and legs. A pocket is located on the bib for housing snacks or other items essential to the user. The first member includes an attachment mechanism that connects to an attachment mechanism on the second member such that the connected first and second members covers nearly the full body of the user to prevent staining any portion of the user's clothing or for hygienic purposes. An apron having safety pockets for storing apron securing straps therein when the bib is attached thereto. The apron and bib further includes at least one safety flap for selectively covering and protecting the attachment mechanisms and/or a user's body.

Abstract: A channel release system provides a platform member and sub-components that stack in a staggered/separated order and align in a channel when used together. A pin member slides through the channel and locks them together. When the pin is pulled through the channels, any secured components or equipment are released and can fall away. The channel release system of the present invention enables users to quickly release clothing, materials and other items to improve mobility, facilitate care and provide other benefits.

Abstract: A zoned moisture management garment is presented, which provides one-way moisture transport from a wearer's body and zones of different moisture management performance. By incorporating dissolvable yarns, removable by a printable paste, with non-dissolvable yarns of different denier per filament, zoned garments with a denier differential mechanism can be created. The zoned garment optimizes evaporative cooling and wicking zones of a garment based upon a sweat profile and contact profile of the wearer.

The first and second locking bodies reversibly form a single element while in use through the attractive force of the first and second magnets.

Abstract: A body covering including a flexible panel having a first edge margin and a second opposite edge margin, and a strap system secured to the flexible panel. The strap system includes an outer strap portion having a first proximal end portion attached proximate to the first edge of the flexible panel, and an opposing first distal free end portion. The strap system also includes a medial strap portion having a second proximal end portion attached to the flexible panel approximately midway between the first and second edge margins, and an opposing second distal free end portion extending away from the flexible panel. The outer and medial strap portions include cooperative fasteners for releasably fastening the body covering about a person's body. The cooperative fasteners are mateable male and female fittings. The cooperative fasteners may be removably and/or slidably attached to their respective outer or medial strap portions.

The garment includes fasteners (primarily zippers and plastic buckles) configured for opening the garment into a one piece configuration in order to wrap the ferment around the child. These garments include pants, shorts, overalls, shortalls (short overalls) rompers, dresses, jumpers, tank tops, shirts, jackets, vests, infant gowns, pajamas, onesies, and shoes.

Abstract: A rapid doffing and donning vest uses a clam shell design wherein the ends of the cummerbund are removably attachable to the rear panel. A blade on the cummerbund mates with a receiver on the rear panel and has a plunger hold the two together. The plunger is attached to a pull strap located on the front panel's shoulder strap via a cord. As the pull strap is pulled outwardly, the cord pulls the plunger away from the mated blade and receiver and allows the two to decouple detaching the cummerbund from the rear panel. Outward pulling on the pull strap also facilitates decoupling of the shoulder strap from the rear panel. When the vest is doffed, the front panel and cummerbund remain attached to each other and detached from the rear panel.

Abstract: The present invention generally relates to protective headgear worn by a user to protect his eyes, head, and face. More particularly, the present invention is directed to a protective headgear assembly used by welders and the like wherein a headgear strap can be tightened or loosened upon the ratcheting of a knob connected to the headgear strap. There is a locking mechanism formed by a base plate having a locking device on an underside and a guide for slidably connecting the locking mechanism to the strip. The moisture removal system can withdraw moisture from other helmet components such as pads and/or the harness, and can be provided within a helmet or as a kit that is used to upgrade existing helmets.

A closed air passage is formed between the liner and cover. A compressed air tank installed in a pocket of the cover and is connected to the air passage through a check valve. An intake hose supplies compressed air from the air passage of the body-protecting portion to the head-protecting portion. The head-protecting portion has a heat-resistant transparent window and a one-way outlet unit. The body-protecting portion and the head-protecting portion are made of a nonflammable material or a fire retardant material.

Abstract: A hip protector pad absorbs impact energy at a vulnerable area of a greater trochanter of an adult human hip. The pad has a continuous sheet of flexible honeycomb material having faces covered with an optional cover material and a layer of compliant and resilient foam on an inner side and an outer side of the honeycomb material. The pad is flexible to conform to a shape of the hip area. The pad is effective to reduce an impact of a fall of an adult human on the vulnerable area and minimizes the chance of a hip fracture resulting from the fall.

The automatic sensing system includes an ambient light sensor for detecting the ambient light intensity around the equipment. The system further includes a detecting sensor for detecting whether user enters the detected area. The system also includes a controller which controls the equipment based on detected signals from the detecting sensor. The controller is configured to start or change the state of the detecting sensor according to a detected value change of the ambient light intensity. The automatic sensing system advantageously saves power consumed by the detecting sensor when the ambient light sensor does not indicate use by the equipment.

Abstract: A method of enhancing the negative pressure of siphon of toilet is to suck the air between the two traps to enhance the negative pressure between the two seal-water, so as to rapidly form a siphon in the traps and flush the waste out rapidly. A suction device for enhancing the negative pressure of siphon of a toilet is used. It comprises: a water container installed in the water tank, said water container is provided with a water inlet and outlet; an air container with an opening in the bottom installed inside the water container, the lower portion of the side wall of the air container has a water opening connected to the water container; and a connecting tube, the bottom of which is connected to the trapway of the toilet, and the top is connected to the top of the air container.

A matching gear for engaging with the fan-shaped engaging gear is disposed on the fixed support.

Abstract: Siphonic, gravity-powered toilets are provided that include a toilet bowl assembly having a toilet bowl. The toilet bowl has a rim channel provided along an upper periphery thereof and a direct-fed jet channel that allows fluid, such as water, to flow from the inlet of the toilet bowl assembly to the direct-fed jet outlet port into the interior of the toilet bowl, in the sump of the bowl. The rim channel includes at least one rim channel outlet port. In the toilets herein, the cross-sectional areas of the toilet bowl assembly inlet, the inlet port to the rim channel, and the outlet port to the direct-fed jet channel are configured so as to be optimized to provide greatly improved hydraulic function at low flush volumes (no greater than about 6.0 liters per flush). The hydraulic function is improved in terms of bulk removal of waste and cleansing of the bowl.

The swivel spray shower head is interconnected with a water regulator assembly through which a water sources rate of flow is regulated.

Abstract: This invention relates to a portable lift device for moving bariatric patients. The portable lift includes a beam having a track which is sized to allow a trolley portion of a lift assembly to move therein. A bracket is removably secured at each end of the beam, whereby each bracket is configured to receive ends of two leg assemblies. Each of the four leg assemblies are individually adjustable along a longitudinal length, allowing the portable lift to conform to a multitude of surface types. Thus, a patient can be lifted by the lift assembly, moved along the beam and over a surface or obstacle by way of the trolley in the track, and deposited onto a gurney or stretcher for further movement. The portable lift is modular in nature, which allows a user to easily carry the lift in a disassembled state, and assemble the lift at any desired location.

Heat packs, cold packs, fragrance sachets and other devices may be inserted into pockets provided in both embodiments, supplying a user with physical and therapeutic comfort while resting in a prone position.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a sleeping restraint for a child that can be used to secure the child to the chest of an adult who is in a substantially horizontal position as well as to methods of using a sleeping restraint. In certain embodiments, the sleeping restraint comprises a chest strap for encircling the chest of an adult, first and second child restraining walls extending from the chest strap, and a restraining strap attached to the first child restraining wall for restraining a child in place on the adult's chest between the walls when the adult is lying on his back.

Abstract: An apparatus for supporting a patient, such as a hospital bed, is provided. The apparatus includes a patient support surface and at least one fluid containing bladder. A pressure control assembly is operably coupled with the bladder. When the fluid pressure within the bladder falls outside of an acceptable range of pressure values, the active adjustment of the pressure within the bladder is initiated by the pressure control assembly if the pressure does not return to the acceptable range of pressure values within a time period, e.g., a time delay, that has a variable length.
