Abstract: A method of treating fibers to improve resistance to high temperatures and relative humidity includes providing poly(p-phenylene-2,6-benzobisoxazole) (PBO) fibers, exposing the PBO fibers to an atmosphere of supercritical CO2 saturated with an epoxy silane, i.e. 3-glycidoxypropyl methyldimethoxysilane. The PBO fibers are subjected to a first pressurizing and heating stage at a first temperature (50° C.) for a first period of time. The PBO fibers are then subjected to a second pressurizing and heating stage including increasing the temperature to a second temperature (110° C.) and holding at the second temperature for an additional period of time. The PBO fibers include 2-5 wt % of 3-glycidoxypropyl methyldimethoxysilane after diffusing the CO2 out of the PBO fibers. The fibers are particularly useful in making lightweight body armor system components.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a welding helmet in which a worker may transmit and block external light as necessary by forming a light switching window for blocking external light from a side surface of the welding helmet (helmet). The welding helmet equipped with a light switching window, which includes a helmet body portion which protects the worker's face and a cartridge which blocks harmful light generated during welding to protect the worker's eyes, includes a light switching window formed on a side surface of the helmet body portion such that external light is transmitted or blocked by the light switching window. The light switching window has a structure in which it may be possible to identify risk factors around a work area and a worker may block unnecessary light as necessary. Particularly, since an operating radius is enlarged, it may be possible to provide the worker with convenience.

In one exemplary embodiment, the sensor garment includes a textile portion, a device-retention element coupled to the textile portion, and a stretchable harness coupled to the textile portion. The conductive element includes a first termination point at the device retention element, configured to connect to a monitor device. The conductive element includes a second termination point configured to connect to a sensor or transceiver.

The front portion covering a front of a subject includes a front substantially vertical slit opening near or on both sides of a chest area of the subject, as well as a center slit to accommodate stethoscopes. Each of the sleeves includes a sleeve for accommodating an arm of the subject wearing the hospital garment. The sleeve includes a substantially vertical sleeve opening near an antecubital vein area of the subject disposed on the inner side thereof. Each of the sleeves is fastened via one or more couplings disposed at a distal end of the each of the sleeves.

Abstract: An improved disposable wipe that can be worn on the hand of an individual. The disposable wipe has an absorbent sheet that is heat sealed to a sanitary glove. The sanitary glove is ambidextrous in design, having a first thumb portion and a second thumb portion arranged on either side of an at least one finger portion. Additionally, the sanitary glove is liquid resistant, such that any fluid wiped up with the absorbent sheet is not transferred to the skin of the individual. The absorbent sheet may have a plurality of perforations interspersed between each thumb and finger portion of the glove, which allow the absorbent sheet to be ripped into small sections of material that can then be used for targeted cleaning using a single finger. It is also possible for the absorbent sheet to retain a cleansing solution that is dispensed upon use of the disposable wipe.

Abstract: A performance enhancing glove for use with sports tools, such as baseball and softball bats, golf clubs, and tennis racquets. The present invention includes a tapered pad located on the palm of the glove which, when gripping a sport tool, forms a cone-like feature around the tool, increasing grip and swing speed of the tool by correcting the grip of the athlete. The taper starts at its maximum thickness just under the fifth metacarpal-phalangeal (MCP) joint and ends at a minimal thickness just under the second MCP joint. The pad is also tapered from the palm starting at the distal palmar crease, with maximum thickness and tapering to minimum thickness at the top of the MCP joints. A second pad runs along the side of the glove against the pinky and acts to separate the athlete's hands when both hands grip the tool.

Abstract: A composting toilet assembly and installation are disclosed. The composting toilet assembly includes a separating means housed in a pedestal toilet seat. Liquid and solid waste entering the toilet assembly are separated by the separating means which includes a sloping conveyor belt, actuated by control means, which serves to separate the liquid waste from the solid waste by means of gravity. The liquid waste is diverted to a bottom end of the sloping conveyor belt and the solid waste is diverted to an opposing top end of the sloping conveyor belt. A receptacle is attachable at the bottom end of the sloping conveyor belt for collecting the diverted liquid waste for disposal. The solid waste is diverted to the top end of the sloping conveyor belt and through a rear opening of the housing where the solid waste is disposed away from the toilet assembly. The solid waste can be disposed into a composting space located adjacent to the toilet assembly and/or below the toilet assembly.

In accordance with one aspect of the disclosure and inventions, there is provided engineered foam for use as a layer in a foam mattress construction having multiple layers including a top layer of foam and at least one additional layer of foam, and a coating of phase change material applied to a top surface of the top layer of foam. Surface application of phase change material to a top surface of a top layer of foam of a foam mattress provides more efficient transfer of heat away from a body on the mattress and reduced heat accumulation at the body-mattress interface.
