Abstract: The method of the present invention for handling scrap tires, includes a step of providing a compacting apparatus to a scrap tire generator, such as a tire retailer. Before compacting the tires, the tire can be marked with a unique identifier assigned to every tire generator. By marking the scrap tires with a unique identifier, the scrap tires can be tracked on their way to the final destination. The compacting apparatus provides volume reduction of the scrap tires individually into a form that can have a reduction of at least fifty percent of original cubic volume. The tires can be pinched to maintain the compacted tire in the compacted form and prevent the compacted tire from regaining its original shape. The compacted scrap tires can be accumulated inside a tire collection enclosure, such as a trailer or dumpster. • Patent number: 4002115
Abstract: This invention pertains to a baling press incorporating a press box defining two side-by-side bale pressing chambers and a single press platen selectively, vertically, reciprocatingly operative in the upper portions of said two chambers, and a pair of doors in the front wall of the press box, hingedly operable in horizontal swinging movements for access into the respective bale pressing chambers. A hydraulic ram assembly, operatingly connected to the platen, is mounted atop a carriage which is manually movable along track means fixed atop the press box for selective alignment with either of the bale pressing chambers. Electric interlock means are provided to prevent operation of the ram unless both doors are completely closed and the platen is perfectly aligned vertically with one of the bale pressing chambers.

  • Patent number: 3996850
Abstract: Individual press dogs are attached individually to a cotton gin press box. Each dog is biased by a weighted hammer against an anvil held in place by springs. Each dog is released when the pressure on that dog overcomes the resistance of the springs.

  • Patent number: 3992986
Abstract: Method and apparatus of refuse collection in a city for disposal in a landfill characterized by the steps of sending portable collecting and baling units on routes throughout the city for collecting refuse and simultaneously baling the refuse into large bales, then periodically discharging the bales along the route. A transport unit which is capable of carrying several bales is then notified to pick up the bales and transport them to a landfill. The baling unit has a hopper collector for manually dumping the refuse, a ram for compressing the refuse within a compaction chute into a bale once the refuse fills the hopper collector. After the bale achieves a selected size, wires previously threaded through guides are tied and the bale ejected. An attached conveyor extracts the bale and carries one or two bales temporarily until at a satisfactory place along the route they are unloaded for later pickup by the transport unit.

  • Patent number: 3934394
Abstract: In the stacking of hay or other crops, a windrow or swath is lifted off the ground, fed into a pile collected by a vehicle-supported, stack-forming body and the pile compressed from time to time in the body, all in a continuous operation as the vehicle is advanced across the field, by virtue of the provision of an accumulator which receives the crop while the pile is being compressed, and from which accumulator the crop so accumulated is thereupon dumped onto the compressed pile as the latter is held against expansion by a holding assembly.
