  • Patent number: 11701905
Abstract: A fixture for supporting an article (e.g., a guitar such as a Stratocaster® guitar body) and controlling the position of the article relative to a print head to allow a contoured portion of a surface of the article to be printed by the print head. The fixture may include a pivot axis about which the article is pivotal. A cam surface may be engaged by the article and/or a bracket of the fixture to which the article is affixed to prescribe the controlled movement of the article based on relative movement between the article and the print head. In turn, both planar and contoured portions of the guitar surface may be printed during a single print operation.

  • Patent number: 10042280
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an apparatus body having an opening, an image forming unit, a storage portions, a moving unit, and a sensing unit. The storage portions store, inside the apparatus body, a sheet having an image. The moving unit can move the sheet stored in each storage portion and stop the sheet in an exposure state where the sheet is exposed outside the apparatus body through the opening. The moving unit moves a first stored sheet and stops the first sheet in the exposure state. If the sensing unit enters a state in which the first sheet is not sensed from a state in which the first sheet is sensed, the moving unit moves a second stored sheet and stops the second sheet in the exposure state where the second sheet is exposed outside the apparatus body through the opening through which the first sheet is exposed.

Abstract: Presently disclosed embodiments are directed to a process and mechanism for reducing human error and manual labor used to sweep pockets on a mail sorting machine. Specifically, the disclosed embodiments utilize a sliding drawer holding a receiving container that can mate in a flush arrangement with an output pocket of a mail sorting machine. Thus, sweeping of mail product from the output pocket to the receiving container can be accomplished in one motion that empties the entire output pocket into the receiving container. This sweeping may be performed by an operator without any errors caused by sweeping to an incorrect receiving container or issues caused by dropping sorted mail product and picking it back up in a different order.

At this point, by determining a preheating amount corresponding to the temperature of the recording medium K, it is possible to obtain a stabilized transfer result in response to a change in transfer conditions due to a change in environmental temperature and a change in the transfer surface. Particularly, in the case of performing backside transfer subsequently to frontside transfer, since the temperature of the recording medium K is high, a preheating amount in backside transfer is made smaller than in frontside transfer.

Abstract: A media printer such as, for example, a thermal transfer media printer is disclosed. In one embodiment, the printer selectively programs RFID transponders, and then embeds them into conventional on-demand printed media between the adhesive layer and the release liner. Selective configuration of each printed media sample by addition of value-adding elements may be performed independently for each media sample, under software control during processing of each media sample format print control program. An add-on mechanism is disclosed that can be operatively attached to a conventional media printer. This allows value-adding elements such as RFID transponder labels to be selectively applied at precise locations on the printed surface of on-demand printed media in connection with existing printers.

Abstract: A dispenser dispenses pellet shaped articles onto a conveyer. The conveyer conveys the pellet shaped articles past a video sensor that senses any pellet shaped articles needing rotation so that they are uniformly oriented. The sensor provides a signal to a manipulating device which manipulates certain pellet shaped articles so that all of the articles are uniformly oriented. The conveyer transports the pellet shaped articles to a first pellet shaped article modifying device that, for example, prints indicia on the pellet shaped articles. A rectifying drum reorients all of the pellet shaped articles in order for printing to be performed on a reverse side. A second sensor and a second manipulating device may also be provided. An inspection system to determine whether a pellet shaped article is defective after a performed modification is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5758574
Abstract: A manually-written, machine-readable code system employs the application of indicia to an article, such as a mail envelope or package, having a number of rows/columns of blank spaces in a predetermined code field which are manually marked or darkened corresponding to a destination or identifying code for the article. The indicia may have been applied previously, as in the form of a preprinted envelope. The darkened spaces are machine-readable and convertible to a numeric code that can be used by an automated machinery to generate appropriate control signals for controlling its functions. The system is particularly applicable for automated sorting of mail according to postal area (Zip) codes. The indicia is readily applied to an envelope by preprinting or by using a rubber stamp or an adhesive label.

Abstract: In an image forming apparatus with a sorter, prints which carry original images printed are delivered to bins of the sorter in two sorting steps. In a first sorting step, the prints are delivered to the bins in the grouped state. They are then collected and arranged in proper sequence in a second step using the image forming apparatus. Prior to the second step, the prints are relocated to a sheet tray from the bins. Thereafter, the prints are conveyed by the printing operation of the image forming apparatus, and are delivered to the bins of the sorter. At the end of the second step, the prints on the bins are collected and arranged in proper sequence in accordance with an original document.

  • Patent number: 5404805
Abstract: In a paper ejection device for a stencil printing device provided with a lifting member for producing a curvature in each sheet of ejected printing paper as seen in a cross section perpendicular to the direction of paper ejection, the lifting member is allowed to move at least between a first position which is relatively retracted from the paper ejection passage and a second position which relatively protrudes into the paper ejection passage. The movement of the lifting member may be effected according to the size or the kind of the printing paper or depending on whether a sorter is connected to the printer or not. Thus, an appropriate curvature can be given to the ejected printing paper without requiring any manual work by the user. Thus, a satisfactory paper ejecting operation can be ensured at all times without requiring any manual work by the operator of the stencil printing device.

  • Patent number: 5319215
Abstract: A device for stacking selected sheets in an offset manner so as to facilitate print quality measurements. Certain sheets are automatically or manually selected to be offset deposited onto a stack of sheets so that an edge of the selected sheet including a number of printed measuring fields extends beyond other sheets in the stack. A measuring head transversely scans the measuring fields of the selected sheet for print quality measurements while subsequent sheets are stacked in the ordinary manner. Since subsequent sheets do not cover the extending edge of the selected sheet, sufficient time is provided to complete the scanning operation with a single measuring head without interrupting or slowing the normal stacking rate.
