Patent number: 11877631Abstract: A method to permanently mark an item of plated jewelry involves creating a laminate of two metals, and upper layer typically formed of a more precious metal such as gold, platinum, and palladium that do not readily oxidize, laminated onto the surface of a less precious metal, such as silver, which is oxidized to create a dark color (e.g. black). A laser is used to create characters and/or designs in the upper layer by vaporizing portions to effectively remove those portions. This exposes the upper surface of the less precious metal that does become oxidized. An oxidizer, such as liquid sulfur, is used to blacken the silver, typically a dark gray. This allows an easy and inexpensive method of archiving information on jewelry bearing or supporting a gem that describes the supported gem rendering the gem more valuable collectible and traceable.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 2021Date of Patent: January 23, 2024Inventor: Yianni Melas

Patent number: 7178456Abstract: Roll-forming apparatus is provided together with a conveyor system utilized to transport raw dough rolls. A stop gate is movably positioned in the path of the rolls and, when placed in an interfering position, temporarily stops the rolls while the rolls maintain sliding contact with the conveyor. An imprinter is positioned above the conveyor and adjacent the stop gate. The stop gate is subsequently moved to a noninterfering position to permit the rolls to pass to the imprinting drums where the rolls are formed into a desired shape.Type: GrantFiled: December 19, 2005Date of Patent: February 20, 2007Inventor: William Roy Bryan

Patent number: 6994024Abstract: Disclosed is an embossing system to be used with a die press. The embossing system includes a force transfer assembly, which comprises a first cover and an opposite second cover with the first and second covers being connected by a hinge. The force transfer assembly further includes a stencil and an opposing form positioned internal of the force transfer assembly. The stencil and the form are adapted to sandwich an embossing material, such as paper, between the stencil and the form. The embossing system further includes a layer of static vinyl that is located internally of one of the covers to secure the form to the internal side of one of the covers. The embossing system also utilizes an adhesive located on the cover opposite the cover with the vinyl to secure the stencil to the internal side of the opposite cover.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2003Date of Patent: February 7, 2006Assignee: Ellison Educational Equipment, Inc.Inventors: Kevin L. Publication number: 20040265751Abstract: A description is given of a method of manufacturing a stamper for use in the manufacture of Small Form Factor (SFF) optical data storage media. A conventional master plate (2) is provided with a series of areas with spiral- or concentric-shaped information tracks (3a-3h), having a relief structure, with the center of each area (3a-3h) being located outside the axis of rotation (9) of the master plate (2). This is done by using a conventional master recorder and a separate master plate support structure (1) without the necessity for complex movements of the master recorder writing head. The master plate (2) thus obtained is used to produce the stamper, containing a negative replica of the surface of the master plate (2).Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2004Publication date: December 30, 2004Inventor: Petrus Helena Gerardus Maria Vromans
