    Abstract: A method is disclosed for determining the positional relationship between a locomotive in a consist and a tender car in the consist. The method may include transmitting a signal from a locomotive controller to the tender car. The signal may be processed at the tender car in a manner uniquely indicative of one end of the tender car. A locomotive controller associated with the locomotive may receive an indication of an effect of the signal processing, and use the indication to establish the positional relationship between the locomotive and the one end of the tender car. The locomotive controller associated with the locomotive may transmit a signal indicative of fuel requirements and including the positional information to a controller associated with the tender car. The tender car controller may transfer fuel from the one end of the tender car to the locomotive.

The recovery system may also include a fuel delivery circuit connecting the tank to the main engine, and an auxiliary engine located on the locomotive. The auxiliary engine may be selectively connectable to receive gaseous fuel formed in the tank. The energy recovery system may also include a boil-off circuit connecting the tank to the auxiliary engine.

The system may have a tank configured to store a liquid fuel for combustion within a main engine located on the locomotive, and a fuel delivery circuit connecting the tank to the main engine. The system may also have an auxiliary engine, and a boil-off circuit connecting the tank to the auxiliary engine. The system may also have an accumulator fluidly connected to the boil-off circuit between the tank and the auxiliary engine and configured to store gaseous fuel formed in the tank, and a carbon adsorbent disposed within the accumulator and configured to adsorb the gaseous fuel. The auxiliary engine may be configured to selectively generate a suction force to withdraw gaseous fuel adsorbed onto the carbon adsorbent.

For each multimedia task, the application interface creates a subset of multimedia processing blocks to be assembled in order to run the multimedia task. In this architecture, each multimedia processing block comprises at least one input interface to connect it in receive mode to a communication bus and/or at least one output interface to connect it in send mode to a communication bus.

    Abstract: A long distance auxiliary drive tender for railroad locomotives which stores significant quantities of fuel and delivers the fuel to the locomotives while underway and which also includes traction motor drive axles powered by the locomotive generators. The traction motors are also capable of providing dynamic braking. Preferably, the auxiliary drive tender will also store and transfer lubrication oil, water, and sand for the locomotives. The auxiliary drive tender operates much like a B-unit in conventional MU operations except that it does not have its own power source.

    Abstract: An intermediate vehicle intercouples a tractor or the like with an ordinary railroad car for shuttling a number of railroad cars along the rails for purposes of loading, switching, and spotting of same. The intermediate vehicle is supported by rail wheels and has an ordinary railroad-type mechanical coupling on one end thereof for coupling with a railroad car, while the other end possesses a tractor-drawn-implement-type coupling for connection with an ordinary three-point hitch of the tractor. Hydraulically extendible, rail engaging wheels are fitted to the tractor for guidance thereof along the rails while the ordinary rubber driving wheels of the tractor are suitably spaced apart for traction engagement with the rails.
