Seed Treating Seed Planter Patents (Class 111/905)
  • Patent number: 8825310
Abstract: A sectional control apparatus and method prompts the operator of an implement when the implement, or portion thereof, is traversing over land that has already been seeded and/or disturbed. The apparatus includes a GPS or GNSS receiver that communicates with a GPS or GNSS system and a controller that maps movement of the implement so that real-time positional data for the implement can be compared to the movement map. When the position of the implement, or portion thereof, is detected as moving over previously seeded and/or disturbed land, the controller activates an alert mechanism in the operator cab of the implement to notify the operator that sectional control, i.e., shutting down metering of product or raising the tool bar, needs to be implemented.

  • Patent number: 7546812
Abstract: The configuration of a feedstock material is controlled by bringing it into contact with at least a first gas moving against it at a location with an area and thickness of the feedstock liquid that forms drops or fibers of a selected size. In one embodiment, drops of agricultural input materials are formed for spraying on agricultural fields. In another embodiment, nanofibers of materials such as chitosan or metals are formed. In another embodiment seeds are planted with gel. In another embodiment particles carrying desired agricultural inputs with modified release characteristics are delivered.

  • Publication number: 20020189512
Abstract: Treatment agents are provided for cell seedlings. Each treatment agent comprises water, a dispersant, and activated carbon finely dispersed with the dispersant in the water. Potted seedlings can be treated by dipping them in the treatment agent and/or by irrigating them with the treatment agent. In this manner, cell seedlings can be pre-treated before planting. The thus-planted seedlings may be irrigated with the treatment agent.

  • Patent number: 6155185
Abstract: A seed treating device is mounted on a seeding implement to treat untreated seeds carried by the implement with inoculants or other treating material before the seeds are planted into the ground. The implement conveys seeds in a flow of air carried by conduits to entrain the seeds within the air flow. The seed treating unit is placed on the implement remote from the storage tank for the seeds to receive airborne seeds from an inlet tube, treat the seeds with a coating material, and discharge the seeds through an outlet tube to planting mechanisms. The seed treating unit includes a conical mixing chamber to induce the air/seed flow into a whirling motion where the coating material is introduced for an even coating of the individual seed particles. The inlet line is oriented generally tangential to the circular mixing chamber, while the outlet line is generally perpendicular to the inlet line and is centrally connected to the main axis of the mixing chamber.

  • Patent number: 6148748
Abstract: An in-line seed treating unit is provided for an air seeding implement to coat seeds carried by a flow of air through a product distribution line before being planted into the ground. The in-line seed treating unit includes a cylindrical housing having input and outlet ends located at opposing axial ends of the cylindrical housing to provide a generally linear overall flow path for the seed entrained air flow through the product distribution line. A baffle formed as a spiral flighting with an open center portion is disposed within the cylindrical housing to induce the air flow and entrained seeds in a spiral flow path along the housing axis and, thereby pushing the entrained seeds outwardly toward the inner wall of the housing. The seed treatment material is injected through an injection port located a distance less than one flighting pitch of the baffle from the beginning of the flighting so that the seed treatment material is dispersed within the air flow to coat the entrained seeds.
