  • Patent number: 10995407
Abstract: In a flow down type surface treating apparatus, a scattering amount of a processing solution Q is reduced. A honeycomb member 60 is provided vertically below a transport hanger 16. The honeycomb member 60 consists of a plurality of tubular members with hexagonal holes connected together. When the processing solution Q falls in a vertical direction (in the direction of an arrow ?), the processing solution Q passes through through-holes of the honeycomb member 60. When the processing solution Q hits liquid level H, a part of it is reflected. Since a part of the reflected processing solution Q is reflected obliquely, it collides with an inner wall of the through-hole of the honeycomb member 60. As a result, the amount of the treatment liquid Q that emerges again on an upper surface of the through-holes is reduced. Thereby, the honeycomb member 60 exhibits a scattering prevention function.

An application head (H) having an upward-pointing linear slit (13) through which an application liquid is supplied is provided below a region through which the substrate (S) moves supported by the holder (8). When the substrate (S) having a constant clearance (I.sub.2) with the application head (H) is moved diagonally upward, an application liquid bead (B) is formed between the slit (13) and the downward-pointing main surface of the substrate (S), by surface tension. The application liquid bead (B) is moved gradually diagonally downward along the main surface of the substrate to form an application layer (Ra). A meniscus (L.

Abstract: A dip soldering process includes a reservoir of molten solder and a solder ladle for immersion therein to refresh the supply of ladled solder. The ladled solder is displaced by a displacement plunger to thereby overflow the ladle and carry with it surface contamination. Continued immersion of the plunger during the soldering operation of the workpiece accomplishes continual flow across the soldered workpiece thereby removing any contaminants which rise to the surface or are introduced by the workpiece.

  • Patent number: 5820676
Abstract: An apparatus for applying precise, uniform, coatings to elongated shafts, such as golf club shafts. Shafts are held by a gripper in a downwardly hanging array. A paint head assembly is moved upwardly over each shaft in sequence to apply a paint coating to a selected portion of the shaft length. The paint head assembly includes a flexible container including a central hole, a vertically moveable edge frame and an expander for changing the area of the hole. Raising the frame forms the container into a bowl like configuration, so that paint will contact a shaft extending through, and in contact with, the hole. The assembly is moved up along the shaft to apply a layer of paint, with the hole area varied to accommodate shaft taper, steps, etc. When the desired shaft length has been painted, the frame is lowered, changing the container to a trough-like configuration with pint away from the hole region. The expander widens the hole out of contact with the shaft and the assembly is lowered to below the shaft end.

Abstract: A liquid coating method for coating a liquid onto inner cells of a honeycomb structure includes the steps of supplying a liquid to the inside of a honeycomb structure vertically arranged from its lower part to cause the liquid to adhere to the inner cells therein, and supplying pressurized air to an upper part of the honeycomb structure to discharge the liquid within the inner cells. A holding apparatus for holding an article includes an outer cylinder in a form of a pipe having an inner wall with an inner diameter which allows an article to be held to pass therethough easily and which has a sufficient strength, a resilient tube having an inner diameter which prevents the article to be held from passing therethough under no tension and having ends each sealingly connected to the outer cylinder, thus defining together with the inner wall of the outer cylinder a sealed space therebetween, means for discharging a fluid from the sealed space; and means for supplying the fluid to the sealed space.

Carrier plates having a plurality of tablet holders are transported from a tablet loading station to a dipping station along a transport guide. At the dipping station, a carrier plate is mounted to a vacuum chamber. A set of vacuum tubes in the vacuum chamber are extended through the tablet holders to contact and lift the tablets off of the holders and secure the tablets to the tubes. In a preferred embodiment, the vacuum chamber is rotated 180.degree. and a second carrier plate is mounted onto the housing and a second set of tubes secure the tablets to the plate. The carrier plates are alternately dipped and returned to the transport guide where new plates with uncoated tablets replace the plates with coated tablets. Immediately after dipping the carrier plates enter a rotating station where the plate is rotated 360.degree.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for sequentially applying a predetermined amount of adhesive to a series of sheets of insulation having a frame with a conveyor mounted at one end, a magazine adapted to maintain and dispense sheets of insulation, one at a time onto the conveyor, a floating adhesive dispensing hopper is positioned adjacent to the conveyor, and a sheet stopping mechanism located on the other side of the hopper at the opposite end of the frame. In operation, a plurality of sheets of insulation are loaded into the magazine, dispensed onto the conveyor one at a time, then driven by the conveyer under the floating adhesive dispensing hopper which applies adhesive to the entire width of the sheet of insulation as the sheet passes under the hopper. The stopping mechanism beyond the hopper stops the movement of the sheet of insulation by deactivating the conveyor until the sheet with the adhesive applied thereon is removed.
