  • Patent number: 9439391
Abstract: A milking liner includes an integrated short air tube and short milk tube. In one configuration, the pulsation air is delivered through the bead of the milking liner directly inside the shell when the liner is connected to the shell. In another configuration, the integrated short air tube has an outlet outside the shell. The disclosure also provides aligned nipple pairs on the claw top. One configuration is provided wherein the pulsation nipples and air fork are integrated with the claw that has the liner nipples. Another configuration is provided wherein the air fork is separate from the claw. A method of readily supplying pulsation air to a shell includes the step of integrated the step of connecting the short air tube and the shell with the step of connecting the shell to the milking liner.

  • Patent number: 8671884
Abstract: A method of attaching and/or removing a teat cup from an animal with a liner inflatable and deflatable by a pulsator which alternately introduces air and vacuum to a pulsation chamber surrounding the liner. The method comprising the steps of: setting the pulsator to constantly introduce vacuum to the pulsation chamber to open and maintain the liner in an open position for an attachment time period; attaching the teat cup to the animal during the attachment time period; setting the pulsator to alternate between introducing air and vacuum to the pulsation chamber during a milking time period to milk the animal; and removing the teat cup from the animal.

  • Patent number: 8670867
Abstract: A robotic milking system suitable for use with conventional milking clusters. Clusters are withdrawn to a generally known position upon release from a cow with the cups hanging down below the bowl. The cups are then located in a confined region from where they are picked up by a robotic arm and attached to teats of a cow. The cups may be located into recesses or slots or be drawn through a guide. The arrangement allows a single robotic arm to service multiple bales of a rotary milking parlor. The application of a vacuum to milking cups may be controlled by applying sufficient pressure to the pulsation line of a cup to collapse the cup liner when that cup is not attached to a teat or by bending a feed line to a cup to close the flow path.

  • Patent number: 8662012
Abstract: A positioning system for at least one flexible tubular element (5, 6, 9) connected to a cup-shaped member (4, 8) includes a control unit (14) which is arranged to estimate an individually adapted release length of the tubular element (5, 6, 9) in response to information from a sensing unit (12, 13a, 13b) arranged to sense a parameter allowing estimation of the position of a teat of an animal. The control unit (14) is also arranged to control the positioning mechanism to adjust the release length of the tubular element (5, 6, 9) to the estimated individually adapted release length.

  • Publication number: 20120272915
Abstract: In certain embodiments, a milking box comprises a storage area comprising a retractable hose, a hose lift belt, a cup holder base, a cup holder, and a cup holder bracket. The retractable hose couples to a cup and suspends the cup in the storage area. The hose lift belt couples to the retractable hose and is operable to retract the retractable hose. The cup holder base defines an aperture through which the retractable hose is positioned. The cup holder comprises a rimmed structure adapted to hold an attachment end of the cup. The cup holder is coupled to the cup holder bracket. The cup holder bracket is operable to open and close such that when closed, the rimmed structure of the cup holder aligns with the attachment end of the cup that is suspended from the retractable hose.
