Having Tiltable Support Patents (Class 119/722)
  • Patent number: 11357609
Abstract: A restraining device for an animal. A body having a base and two spaced-apart walls define a cavity to receive the animal. At least one pair of side restraining members is mounted to one of the walls of the body. Each restraining member is displaceable away from the wall and into the cavity to engage a side of the animal. An overhead restraining member is mounted to the body above the base. The overhead restraining member is displaceable toward and away from the base to engage the animal. A tightening mechanism is mounted to the body and has at least one rotatable rod. The first end of the rod has a rotatable handle to rotate the rod and the second end has a cam engaging one of the side restraining members. The handle rotates the cam and displaces the side restraining members into the cavity.

  • Patent number: 9717217
Abstract: An animal restraining harness or jacket and a method of use thereof, for protecting the shoulder and upper abdomen when experimental/surgical procedures are performed and when the experimental/surgical sites must be protected from biting, scratching, and other unwanted contact. The jacket generally includes a shoulder region and collar extensions, where the shoulder region is connected to the collar extensions. The collar extensions are wrapped and secured around the collar or neck area of the animal, and the shoulder region is wrapped and secured around the shoulder and torso area of the animal. Preferably, the collar extensions and shoulder region are secured on the dorsal side of the animal, thus providing a dorsal gap therebetween. This harnesses the animal effectively and prevents escape from the restraining jacket.

  • Patent number: 8945014
Abstract: An imaging system includes a plurality of elongated rails, a scanhead assembly, and a small animal mount assembly. The scanhead assembly is mounted to be moveable in a linear bidirectional manner along a longitudinal axis of the first rail. The small-animal mount assembly is mounted to be moveable in a linear bidirectional manner along a longitudinal axis of the second rail. The second rail is mounted relative to the first rail so the longitudinal axis of the second rail is at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the first rail. The imaging system may also comprise a needle injection assembly that is mounted to be moveable in a linear bi-directional manner along the longitudinal axis of the third rail. The third rail is mounted such that a longitudinal axis of the third rail is substantially coaxial to the longitudinal axis of the first rail.

  • Patent number: 6158394
Abstract: An apparatus and a method are provided for controlling the position of an animal in a space (1) having a floor in order to facilitate the performance of an animal-related action. The floor comprises at least one primary floor portion (10), at which it is desirable that the animal stands during the performance, and at least one secondary floor portion (11), at which it is desirable that the animal does not stand during the performance. The apparatus comprises an activatable device (14) provided to enable a wobbling movement of the secondary floor portion (11) upon activation.

  • Patent number: 6070555
Abstract: A portable apparatus (20) for containing an animal includes a stock (22) for receiving the animal, a tongue (24) pivotally connected to the stock (22), and a variable length controller (26) connected between the stock (22) and the tongue (26). The opposite towing end (30) of tongue (24) is connected to a towing vehicle (500). When the variable length controller (26) is placed in an extended position, stock (22) pivots about first (38) and second (42) wheels to a substantially vertical position suitable for receiving an animal. When variable length controller (26) is placed in a retracted position, stock (22) pivots to a substantially horizontal position above tongue (24), and may be conveniently towed between locations.

  • Patent number: 5943983
Abstract: A tilting apparatus for supporting and restraining a non-human primate animal while conducting research. The tilting apparatus is provided with a table for supporting the animal reclining face down thereon. The table is supported by support means for rotation about a first axis between a horizontal position and a head-down position and about a second axis between the head-down position and a head-up position. Locking means are provided for releasably locking the table in a selected horizontal, head-down or head-up positions. Suitable restraining means are provided which are intersecurable between the animal and the table and function to support and restrain the animal. The animal, while remaining restrained to the tilting apparatus, has free range of motion to feed itself from a water and feeding station. The water and feeding station is supported by an accessory pole. A waste collection system is provided which is connected to the table and which functions for collecting animal waste.

  • Patent number: 5275132
Abstract: A method, and apparatus, for rotating immobilized subhuman primate animal test subjects about one or more axes according to a preselected sequence to simulate weightlessness and to minimize trauma during simulated zero or micro-gravity studies is disclosed. The method includes intermittent rotation of the test subject ninety degrees every thirty minutes about an axis parallel to both the spine of the test animal and to the ground, and intermittent rotation of the test subject forty-five degrees every three to five minutes about each of two axes. The method is performed using a timed roto-positioning apparatus having a frame, a subframe rotatably attached to the frame, and a carrier for a primate restraint system rotatably attached to the subframe. Two motors, controlled by a programmable controller, individually rotate the subframe and the carrier according to a preselected sequence.
