  • Patent number: 11746778
Abstract: This disclosure presents a pump body, such as a fluid end housing used in a reciprocating pump, which provides an integral seating or engagement surface (or a valve seat integrated with the pump body) for a valve member. The integral engagement surface removes the need for a separate, replaceable valve seat and can last as long as the service life of the fluid end housing. This saves multiple maintenance services during the service life of the fluid end housing, along with the associated down time, labor costs, and material costs for the new valve seats. The integral engagement surface thus performs as an integral valve seat to the pump body. In some embodiments, the integral engagement surface may be coated, heat-treated, or otherwise modified to increase its wear resistance, such as by including one or more wear-resistant inserts to at least partially contact the valve member.

Abstract: A hydraulic valve arrangement includes a manifold and a poppet. The manifold defines a bleed ring that surrounds a bore and has an angled surface. The manifold also defines an annular recess around the bleed ring that provides a relief region. The poppet is slidably disposed within the bore and is structured to close a main flow path between the first and second ports when the poppet is in a first position and the poppet being structured to at least partially open the main flow path when the poppet slides away from the first position. The poppet defines an angled contact surface that is configured to engage the angled contact surface of the bleed ring when the poppet is in the first position.

  • Patent number: 9545024
Abstract: The embodiments described herein relate to methods, systems, and structures for cutting a part to form a highly reflective and smooth surface thereon. In some embodiments, the part includes substantially horizontal and vertical surfaces with edges and corners. In described embodiments, a diamond cutter is used to cut a surface of the part during a milling operation where the diamond cutter contacts the part a number of times with each rotation of the spindle of a milling machine. The diamond cutter has a cutting edge and a land. The cutting edge cuts the surface of the part and the land burnishes the surface of the part to form a highly reflective and smooth surface. Thus, the diamond cutter cuts and burnishes portions of the part, thereby eliminating a subsequent polishing step.

  • Patent number: 9488035
Abstract: A sliding sleeve opens with a deployed ball. The sleeve has a seat disposed in the housing, and the seat has segments biased outward from one another with a C-ring or other biasing element. Initially, the seat has an expanded state in the sliding sleeve so that the seats segments expand outward against the housing's bore. When an appropriately sized ball is deployed downhole, the ball engages the expanded seat. Fluid pressure applied against the seated ball moves the seat into the inner sleeve's bore. As this occurs, the seat contracts, which increases the engagement area of the seat with the ball. Eventually, the seat reaches the shoulder in the inner sleeve so that pressure applied against the seated ball now moves the inner sleeve in the housing to open the sliding sleeve's flow port.

Abstract: The invention relates to a pump for pumping a fluid, including an inlet, an outlet, and a pumping chamber, wherein a valve is arranged between the inlet and the pumping chamber or between the pumping chamber and the outlet. The valve includes a valve body having a valve seat pointing in the direction of the outlet, and a valve member that interacts with the valve seat, wherein the valve member is loaded under pre-loading against the valve seat into a closed position of the valve and allows fluid to pass through in a pumping direction due to the valve member lifting off against the pre-load, wherein the valve body is accommodated in a receptacle of a pump part. A pump for which the development of noises and vibrations is reduced in that the valve body can move axially relative to the receptacle that accommodates the valve body.

  • Patent number: 9395019
Abstract: Embodiments of a seal element for use in a trim assembly that allow valves and, in particular, balance control valves to meet high-temperature and shut-off requirements. These embodiments can engage and disengage a cage element and a plug element of the trim assembly, thereby creating a seal that prevents leaks of working fluid that can compromise operation of the valve. In one embodiment, the seal element comprises an annular ring that circumscribes the outer periphery of the plug element. The annular ring can deflect in response movement of one part of the plug element relative to another part of the plug element. This deflection can cause the seal element to contact the cage element and the plug element in seal regions that are proximate to one another, and to the outer periphery of the plug element.
