Abstract: An internal-combustion engine includes an engine block, a plurality of parallel cylinders and oil chambers defined in the engine block; intake valves, exhaust valves, overhead valve controls and crankshaft bearings supported in the engine block as well as a pump supported in the engine block for delivering oil through the oil chambers for cooling the engine. The engine block is a single-piece cast component in which the oil chambers extend adjacent and parallel to the cylinders and are accessible from opposite sides of the engine block where the crankshaft bearings and the valve controls are supported.
Abstract: An internal combustion engine having thereon a cylinder head, a valve mechanism consisting of a cam and a valve arm, comprising a rib-type oil received provided on that portion of the inner surface of a head cover which is in opposition to contact portions of the cam and the valve arm with an oil ejection bore provided in the valve arm directed to the rib-type oil receiver.
Abstract: A cylinder head for an automotive type engine has an overhead camshaft and oil collecting basins adjacent the tappet guides to collect excess oil exuded from the guides; the basins have holes aligned with the cams on the camshaft to drip oil thereon for proper camshaft lubrication; inserts may be used in the oil drip holes, or specially formed drip edges adjacent the holes may be used.
