  • Publication number: 20140299095
Abstract: In a control apparatus for a general-purpose internal combustion engine including a generator as a power supply, the generator includes a main generator coil supplying power to the stepping motor, and an auxiliary generator coil supplying power to an ignition device of the engine. The apparatus includes ignition timing controller for, when starting the engine by a manual starter, detecting that an engine speed reaches or exceeds a predetermined engine speed not exceeding a connecting rotation speed of a centrifugal clutch to retard an ignition timing of the engine, thereby suppressing increase in the engine speed to less than the connecting rotation speed, and for restoring the ignition timing to its normal timing after a predetermined time elapses from start of retarding the ignition timing. Accordingly, it suppresses overshooting of an engine speed above the connecting rotation speed even if a delay occurs in closing a throttle valve by a delay in activating the motor.

  • Patent number: 8256399
Abstract: An automatic management and control system for controlling a transport motored vehicle engine idle conditions, operation of vehicle accessories and engine controls when the vehicle is at a rest condition. This system has a controlled unit with a programmable computer having a memory for storing instructions for execution of an interactive management control program by the control unit. The control unit is conditioned by the operator of the vehicle to operate in a cabin heating mode or a cabin air-conditioning mode. The control unit is also conditioned by the control program to enable a defeat protection circuit to control a fast idle switch function in the cabin to prevent a vehicle operator person to attempt to override a idle shut-down mode of the control module when enabled for a set time period whereby to ensure autonomous automatic engine control by the control unit when the vehicle is in the rest condition with the control unit enabled to thereby optimize fuel efficiency.

  • Patent number: 6986336
Abstract: An electronically controlled throttle control apparatus prevents a throttle valve from malfunctioning due to deterioration in sliding resistance ascribable to abrasive dust at a sliding contact portion between a valve gear of a geared reduction device and a coil spring. The outer periphery of a spring inner periphery guide is provided with a plurality of groove portions as abrasive dust removing means for removing abrasive dust at least from a sliding contact portion between the outer periphery of the spring inner periphery guide and the inner periphery of a default spring, so that individual edge portions of the plurality of groove portions can rub the inner periphery of the default spring to scrape off abrasive dust from the inner periphery of the default spring and direct the abrasive dust into the plurality of groove portions.

  • Patent number: 4455868
Abstract: A method in which a plug-in pump, controlled by oblique edges, is inserted with the aid of an adjusting device into a pump fitting of an internal combustion engine and which without subsequent correction of the supply quantity guarantees an identical supply quantity for all the plug-in pumps of one engine. With a supply quantity adjusting member held firmly in a test position, the plug-in pump is inserted into the test pedestal and rotated until such time as the supply quantity corresponds to the set-point supply quantity, this rotational position marked by a slash mark on the flange of the plug-in pump. With a governor rod, which is part of the engine, locked in the basic test position, a second slash mark is subsequently made on the pump fitting by means of a dummy pump. Once the dummy pump has been removed, the plug-in pump is secured in the pump fitting of the engine with the slash marks in alignment.

  • Patent number: 4350127
Abstract: Governors for diesel engines use a torque-spring to control the slope torque-rise curve as the rack actuator moves between the balance point and full load position. At present, it is difficult to adjust the torque spring mechanism to obtain the correct amount of rack movement between these positions. In the present invention, a first adjustment screw (33) is engageable with the torque spring (20), a second adjustment screw (34) is engageable with a fixed stop member (24), and a means (40) concurrently moves the first screw (33) in spring-deflecting engagement with the torque spring (20) and moves the second screw (34) towards engagement with the stop member (24) in response to fuel-increasing movement of the rack actuator (12), with further fuel-increasing movement of the rack actuator (12) being prevented by engagement of the second screw (34) with the stop member (24).
