  • Patent number: 7712461
Abstract: An air propelling toy for directing a quantity of air in a desired direction includes a housing including a perimeter wall that defines an interior space of the housing. The housing has an outlet port that extends through the perimeter wall and is in fluid communication with the interior space. A diaphragm is coupled to the housing and positioned in the interior space of the housing and divides the interior space into an air space and a mechanism space. The air space is in fluid communication with the outlet port. An actuating assembly is operationally coupled to the housing and the diaphragm. The actuating assembly is actuated to draw the diaphragm into the mechanism space to draw air into the sir space through the outlet port and quickly release the diaphragm to force the air out of the air space and out the outlet port.

  • Patent number: 7686002
Abstract: The present invention is a toy launcher which is transfigurable from a compacted state to an operative state for launching projectiles. In one embodiment, the launcher utilizes a hand-pressurized air pump for providing the launching power, and may accommodate multiple types of projectiles to be loaded in the gun at the same time. Projectiles may include, for example, a bolo bullet, grapnel, or miniature missiles. Auxiliary retractable features such as targeting components and a flashlight with a logo projector may be added to enhance the play value of the invention.

  • Patent number: 7191774
Abstract: A toy air gun and in particular an improved air gun for generating vortex rings are described. The gun is designed so that the path along the axis of air motion from the rear of the gun to the air exit hole is optically transparent, and contains patterns normal to this axis that assist in accurate sighting. This allows targets to be directly sighted along the axis of air or vortex ring travel. Together with improvements to ensure purely axial air motion, this dramatically increases the aiming accuracy of this class of gun and makes it suitable for target-type activities. A screen with a cylindrically symmetric pattern of openings and aiming marks prevents solid objects placed inside the gun's barrel from being projected outwards, and assists in aiming the gun. An vented safety guard at the exit end of the gun prevents large pressures from developing in the event that the gun exit is blocked while preserving the vortex ring component to the airflow.

  • Publication number: 20040226548
Abstract: A collapsible toy air gun with at least two tapered tubular sections adapted to be cooperatively joined coaxially, at least one supporting plate, a diaphragm and a resilient string. The tapered tubular sections are correspondingly sized concentrically to form a tubular body having a larger and an opposite smaller opening end in the extended operational position. At least one supporting plate is mounted on the circumferential surface of the tubular body to maintain the tubular sections in the extended position. The diaphragm is mounted transversely across the larger opening end of the tubular body with a pull knob and back support secured to the diaphragm. The resilient string is mounted across the smaller opening end of the tubular body through the back support.

  • Patent number: 6578566
Abstract: An improved paintball marker bolt and bolt head uses a curved gas inlet ramp and geometrically designed outlet holes to provide pressurized gas flow with decreased turbulence and more uniform distribution over the paintball surface. The improvements in gas flow and pressure distribution are combined with other mechanical improvements related to drive transfer, friction reduction, and bolt assembly, resulting in a significantly improved marker bolt. Improvements are realized in increased gas flow efficiency, increased paintball velocity (by 30 feet per second or more), increased range, improved shot consistency (less than a 2½% variation in shot-to-shot paintball velocity), decreased jamming, and decreased premature paintball breakage.

  • Patent number: 4157703
Abstract: An improved toy air gun is disclosed comprising a generally parabolic barrel having a muzzle opening at the truncated apex of the parabola. A handle and trigger mechanism are attached to the barrel exterior opposite the muzzle. A resilient diaphragm is mounted transversely of the barrel interior. Cocking means for grasping, stretching and locking the diaphragm rearwardly is provided on the gun. The trigger mechanism releases the diaphragm from the locked rearward stretched position to cause a puff of air to issue from the muzzle opening. A screen is mounted within the barrel between the muzzle opening and the diaphragm. An auxiliary cone is circumferentially attached by mounting ribs about the muzzle opening. The anterior end of the auxiliary cone has an opening of a diameter about equal to the muzzle opening. The auxiliary cone provides a circumferential opening around the muzzle having an area about equal to the area of the muzzle opening.
