Closures Patents (Class 126/160)
  • Patent number: 8628324
Abstract: A single burner snow melter is capable of a snow start. The burner assembly has a fuel burner having adjustable combustion output and a nozzle through which products of combustion emerge, and a combustion chamber which has a first portion in substantially air-tight communication with the fuel burner and which encloses the nozzle. A second portion of the combustion chamber is shaped and dimensioned such that the second portion is placed into a snow melting receptacle or pit. The combustion chamber has a plurality of directional discharge means formed at least on its second portion through which products of combustion from the fuel burner emerge, and thus agitate, and melt snow loaded into a tank or pit. The burner assembly also includes an air cooling assembly for supplying air to cool at least the first portion of the combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 4624239
Abstract: A combination damper and ash rake for a barbecue grill comprising an integral, flat disc having damper openings, rake projections struck upwardly from the disc and a pair of ears struck downwardly from the disc. The disc cooperates rotatably with a complementary flat bottom section of a barbecue grill receptacle having air openings formed therein. The disc ears provide a mounting hub for the disc positionable through a central mounting opening in the flat bottom section, and an operating handle is positionable through the disc ears. A resilient connector unites the handle and disc in operational assembly and provides a bias to maintain the disc in close contact with the bottom section of the grill receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4426991
Abstract: A stove firebox has a longitudinal opening in its bottom wall in which is supported upper and lower grates. The lower grate is slidable relative to the upper grate. Each grate has longitudinally spaced cross bars, and such cross bars and the openings therebetween have the same longitudinal dimension whereby upon offsetting the cross bars of the two grates longitudinally, an imperforate floor is provided and upon alignment of the cross bars, vertical passages are formed to sift ashes downward for cleaning the firebox. The slidable grate can be reciprocated to provide the sifting step. An interior draft inlet is provided at the bottom of the firebox adjacent the front.

  • Patent number: 4091794
Abstract: A fireplace heat extractor comprising an air-shield, such as a glass screen, to be mounted across the fireplace opening with manually controlled, limited capacity openings therethrough that admit just enough air into the fireplace to support combustion. Baffle means prevent such air from bypassing the fire. A blower directs air through a horizontal header extending through the air-shield into place, and then through an array of tubular air ducts which extend downwardly and rearwardly from the header to function also as a fire basket. The ducts extend up along the back of the fireplace and then forwardly to open back through the air-shield into the room. Replaceable fill bars are positioned between the fire basket portion of the ducts to improve coal-supporting characteristics.
