Abstract: Optimizing power generation from waste heat in large industrial facilities such as petroleum refineries by utilizing a subset of all available hot source streams selected based, in part, on considerations for example, capital cost, ease of operation, economics of scale power generation, a number of ORC machines to be operated, operating conditions of each ORC machine, combinations of them, or other considerations are described. Recognizing that several subsets of hot sources can be identified from among the available hot sources in a large petroleum refinery, subsets of hot sources that are optimized to provide waste heat to one or more ORC machines for power generation are also described.

Abstract: Thermal energy in the form of heat of phase transformation can be stored in a ternary salt mixture of the formula: ANO3+LiNO3+Mg(NO3)2.6H2O.
Abstract: A radiant heating system including at least one gas burner and at least one conduit connected to the at least one burner on one end and connected to at least one exhaust tube at an opposite end for transporting hot exhaust gas. Heat is transferred via conduction to an external surface of the conduit. The heat is then radiated omnidirectionaly from the external surface of the conduit as infrared rays. A fan directs a stream of air across the external surface of the conduit to cool the conduit allowing the at least one burner to operate continuously for longer periods of time.
Abstract: A phase change material for use in a heat battery is provided which includes a salt of hydrated Group IIA metal nitrate and Group IA metal nitrate and an effective amount of an aqueous material sufficient to cause the densities of the liquid and solid phases of said phase change material to be approximately equal during phase transformation. A method of making the phase change material and a heat battery which contains the phase change material are also provided.

Abstract: A heat-transfer concentrate comprising a storage-stable dispersion of a heat-storage medium and gallium adsorbed onto a solid having either a particle diameter of 1 to 3 um or a pore diameter of 0.2 to 0.6 nm, or both, is provided. The invention also provides a method of manufacture for the concentrate, and a heat-transfer mixture comprising the heat-transfer concentrate and another heat-storage medium. The invention further provides methods of using the heat-transfer mixture to store and convey heat in reactors with heat exchangers, as well as methods of use in heat pumps and as a thermochemical energy-storage medium.
