Abstract: Modular flow control systems include several differently-shaped structures to achieve desired flow characteristics in fluid flow. Systems include one or many plates held in desired positions by a retainer within the flow. The plates are uniquely shaped based on their position, or vice versa, to shape flow in a desired manner. The plates may fill an entire flow area or may extend partially throughout the area. Plates can take on any shape and are useable in systems installed in any type of flow conduit. When used in a PCCS upper manifold in a nuclear reactor, a chevron plate directly below the inlet divides flow along the entire upper manifold. Perforated plates allow flow to pass at ends of the PCCS upper manifold. The plates can be installed along a grooved edge during an access period and held in static position by filling the length of the PCCS upper manifold.

  • Patent number: 10322436
Abstract: A method of applying a riblet structure coating on the internal surface of a pipe includes coating the internal surface of a pipe with a resin layer and applying a cavity mold having a reverse riblet pattern structure to the coated internal surface of the pipe. A flexible air bag is inserted into the interior of the pipe and charged with air to hold the mold against the coated internal surface of the pipe. The air bag may be charged with air for a sufficient amount of time to allow the coating to cure in the riblet shape of the mold. Afterwards, the air bag and the mold are removed from the pipe to yield a pipe coated with an internal riblet structure.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for a deposition solution injector for a nuclear reactor that may inject an ambient temperature deposition solution into a high temperature, high pressure feed-water flow line. The method and the apparatus ensures that the deposition solution is delivered in a location within the feed-water that is beyond a boundary layer of flowing water, to prevent smearing of the solution and prevent clogging of the deposition solution within the injector. The axial cross-sectional profile of the injector, and the location of an injection slot on the injector, may reduce vortex eddy flow of the feed-water into the injector to further reduce injector blockage.
