  • Patent number: 4476702
Abstract: A machine for producing spiral springs whose ends are twisted around the adjacent coils includes inductive proximity switches 18, 19 for sensing the position of the wire end 3a of each spring 3 conveyed from a coil forming station A. The measurement results are fed to a preselector counter 21, and when deviations from the correct wire length exceed a certain predetermined number a regulating motor 23 adjusts a tool which determines the coil diameter of the spring.

  • Patent number: 4418891
Abstract: A chain tensioner is provided with a take-up hook (21) connected to the junction area (30) between the shank (3) thereof and double hook end (4) by means of a chain (20). The take-up chain (20) has an end link (23) surrounding the shank material of the tensioner and which is bound by its form between the shank portion (23) on one side and material projections (22) on the flattened end portion (4). The link (23) surrounds the junction area (30) with clearance so that the link (23) can be swung relative to the direction of the shank (3). The link (23) connecting the take-up chain (20) to the tensioner is to advantage made in a C-shape so that the take-up chain (20) with hook (21) can be easily hooked-on to or hooked off the tensioner.

  • Patent number: 4327780
Abstract: A tool which loops the end portion of the outermost convolution of a spiral wire binder around the neighboring next-to-the-outermost convolution while the convolutions of the binder extend through the perforations of a stack of paper sheets and the binder is located in a preselected position has a knife which trims the outermost convolution and thereupon bends the end portion of the outermost convolution to a position of parallelism with and proximity to a stationary surface. A looping device which is mounted at the forward end of a rotary reciprocable shaft is thereupon caused to engage the bent end portion in response to forward movement of the shaft and to loop the bent end portion by moving it along the surface and around the neighboring convolution in response to rotation of the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4296621
Abstract: A wire coil spring forming machine adapted for use with thick wire prevents breakage of a thin wall in a longitudinal groove in a wire guide member or quill when forming a sharp angle bent between a coil body portion and a leading end loop portion, and permits the start of the next spring leading end loop during formation of last spring trailing end loop. A pair of radially movable members move to advanced positions where they grasp the wire portion of an already formed leading end loop just in front of the longitudinal groove. Another radially movable member abuts the loop to bend it at that point without applying the bending force to the longitudinal groove. A body holder means grasps the body after the main tool forms the trailing end loop to permit severing the semifinished spring from the material wire and bending the trailing end loop.

  • Patent number: 4289004
Abstract: A coil spring manufacturing machine which is controlled by a micro-computer is described. Driving source of the coil spring manufacturing machine is a single motor. The power is divided into two independently controllable operation transmitting systems by a power dividing means. The one operation transmitting system transmits rotation to a mandrel assembly for winding a coil around a mandrel. The other operation transmitting system transmits a pitch movement to the mandrel assembly. Machining tools for the formation of coil spring legs are positioned around the mandrel assembly.

  • Patent number: 4236397
Abstract: A method and apparatus for producing coil springs formed of wire and with elets formed at the ends thereof are disclosed. The apparatus includes a machine for winding spring bodies detachably affixed to apparatus for transferring them from the winding machine to first and second successive eyelet forming stations wherein, at the first forming station, an eyelet is formed at one end of the spring body and, at the second forming station, an eyelet is formed at the other end of the spring body. The spring bodies are divided into transport groups and supply groups arranged side-by-side on upwardly and downwardly inclined ramps, respectively, with their longitudinal axes parallel and at right angles to the transfer direction. Delivery devices are provided between the downwardly inclined, gravity feed supply ramps and the upwardly inclined transport ramps for the stepwise delivery of spring bodies to the eyelet forming stations.

  • Patent number: 4147048
Abstract: The invention relates to machines, for the manufacture of springs, of the type which produce springs with a hook in a plane passing through the axis of said spring at one end, and a hook lying in the extension of the last turn of the spiral at the other end. The improvement is that means are provided for transferring the roughed-out spring in front of a device, for straightening the second hook, which is angularly displaced in relation to the machine, the transfer being effected by an axial movement of the blank, followed by rotation, and ending with a further axial movement.
