Abstract: Utilities (e.g., apparatuses, systems, methods, etc.) for use in loading power equipment such as log splitting apparatuses onto cargo trailers or the like in manners that increase the number of assembled log splitting apparatuses that can be loaded onto the cargo trailers (or otherwise result in more efficient loading of assembled log splitting apparatuses onto the cargo trailers) while facilitating assembled presentation of the log splitting apparatuses after unloading from the cargo trailer.
Abstract: The invention relates to a knife for cutting tuberous plants, mainly potatoes, into bars and other shapes, whereby the tubers are driven through a cutting bloc, which cutting block is formed by the positioning of crosswise mounted, knives situated above each other, which knives consist of a blade with an oblique cutting edge (2) and a flat cutting edge (3) which arc positioned with respect to each other in that said knife are positioned in sleeves (4) provided perpendicularly to this cutting edge of the blade, characterised in that each sleeve (4) shows an oblique cut bottom side (5′, 6′, 7′, 8′).
Abstract: A mechanized disc flaker for producing curled wood flakes having a rotatable disc plate, and one or more cutting knives mounted to the disc plate so as to provide for a slight "rake angle" defined in accordance with the invention as the angle made between the tool face and a plane perpendicular to the direction of tool travel. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus includes rotatable and removable knife holders which permit the rake angle and the "cutting angle", defined in accordance with the invention as being the angle the cutting edge of the knife makes with the grain of the wood, to be modified to yield curled wood shavings having different geometries and characteristics. The preferred method of practicing the apparatus involves using a work piece having a certain moisture content which is directed against the work surface of the disc flaker using appropriate pressure all to provide for wood curls of desirable characteristics.

Abstract: A log splitting apparatus comprising a frame, a main splitting head and a ram means mounted on the frame. The main splitting head includes; a vertically disposed wedge including a beveled leading splitting edge beveled along an angle sloping toward one vertical surface of the wedge and three horizontally disposed wedges attached to one side of the vertically disposed wedge. The horizontal wedges are positioned in such a fashion along the vertical wedge so as to allow a log to be split into a plurality of smaller billets of uniform size without jamming during the splitting process.
Abstract: A process for preparation of long wood strands is disclosed. Long wood strands are required for the production of structural lumber products. These strands must be split, and a method of splitting logs into longitudinal-grain wood strands comprises the steps of radially splitting a log substantially along the grain of the log into a plurality of sector shaped segments, parallel splitting each of the sector shaped segments along the grain of the segments into a plurality of substantially parallel slabs, and further splitting each of the parallel slabs substantially along the grain of the slabs into a plurality of longitudinal-grain wood strands.
