  • Patent number: 11701850
Abstract: Apparatus for applying noise-reducing elements to a tyre for vehicle wheels that has a radially inner surface with a service area and a circumferential dimension. The apparatus determines the position in circumferential direction of the service area, determines the position in circumferential direction of a target area on the radially inner surface of the tyre based on the position in circumferential direction of the service area, and applies a noise-reducing element the target area. The position in circumferential direction of the service area is determined by circumferentially inspecting the radially inner surface of the tyre starting from a reference position, detecting the angular position of the service area with respect to the reference position and determining the position in circumferential direction of the service area based on the angular position and on the circumferential dimension of the radially inner surface of the tyre.

  • Publication number: 20120298268
Abstract: There are provided a method and a device to suppress the formation of a flat spot or to lessen the extent of a flat spot in a tire of a vehicle such as automobile by applying to a belt of the tire on a ground contact area of the tire a bending moment in the direction that the opposite sides of the belt are directed outward in the radial direction of the tire to suppress the formation of a deflection due to the compression of a carcass cord on the tire ground contact area In order to apply such a bending moment, a projection member narrower than the tread of the tire is disposed on the surface touching the tire of a vehicle when it is stopped or parked, pressing the tread of the tire.

  • Publication number: 20120273101
Abstract: A pneumatic tire is provided with a decoration portion at a tire side portion. The decoration portion includes decoration elements, which include ridges, and gullies, which are inclined with respect to the tire circumferential direction and divide the decoration elements into at least two regions. Thus, the gullies make the ridges non- continuous in the tire circumferential direction. The ridges include first ridges and second ridges that are smaller than the first ridges in one or both of height and width. At least some of the first ridges are inclined with respect to the tire circumferential direction and are adjacent to one another. Thus, the gullies are formed between the adjacent first ridges.

  • Patent number: 8288474
Abstract: Alkoxy-modified silsesquioxane compounds are described. The alkoxy-modified silsesquioxane compounds contain an alkoxysilane group that participates in an alkoxysilane-silica reaction as a silica dispersing agent in rubber, with the release of zero to about 0.1% by weight of the rubber of volatile organic compounds (VOC), especially alcohol, during compounding and further processing. Further described are methods for making alkoxy-modified silsesquioxanes, methods for making vulcanizable rubber compounds containing alkoxy-modified silsesquioxanes, vulcanizable rubber compounds containing alkoxy-modified silsesquioxanes, and pneumatic tires comprising a component that contains alkoxy-modified silsesquioxanes.

Abstract: A heavy vehicle tire tread constituted from a material based upon a rubber composition, the composition comprising, per 100 parts by weight of elastomer, between 35 and 60 phr of a solution polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber having a styrene content of between 10 wt. % and 35 wt. % and between 35 and 60 phr of a polybutadiene. The composition may further include between 45 and 110 phr of silica and between (1.94×10?3/n)(S) and (2.55×10?3/n)(S) moles of a sulfur-containing organosilicon compound as a silane coupling agent per 1 kg of the silica, wherein n is a number of silicon atoms in a molecule of the silane coupling agent and S is a CTAB surface area in m2/g of the silica. The rubber composition may be cured with a sulfur curing system comprising a sulfenamide accelerator and between 0.3 and 0.8 phr of free sulfur, wherein a ratio of the sulfenamide accelerator and the sulfur is between 2 and 7.
