  • Patent number: 11725450
Abstract: A fire exit system is disclosed. In one particular embodiment, the fire exit system may include a motor mechanically coupled to a window such that the motor, when turned on, causes the window to open, a controller coupled to the motor, and a switch coupled to the controller. • Patent number: 10526838
Abstract: The present invention provides a liquid drainage assembly for an automatic, roll-up door and has an attaching member connecting a drip tray to a surface proximate the door. The attaching member moves drip tray from a position where the tray is disposed under a bottom edge of the door to collect liquid flowing across the bottom edge when the door is in an open position to a position where the tray is outside the vertical plane in which the door moves to allow the door to move to a closed position. A motor moves the door in response to signals received from a controller which ensures coordinated movement of the door and the drip tray.

  • Patent number: 9587432
Abstract: A gate opener for simultaneously operating a pair of opposed sliding gates. The gate opener includes a pair of identical pulley assemblies one each affixed to the ground adjacent to a either gate and oriented a hundred eighty degrees to each other. A first cable is affixed to a lateral edge of a first gate, passes through a series of pulleys and is affixed to a medial edge of a second gate. A second cable is affixed to a lateral edge of a second gate, passes through a series of pulleys and is affixed to a medial edge of the first gate.

  • Patent number: 7798198
Abstract: A weight compensation device for a lifting door, includes a spring element and a tensile element, which can be wound onto or unwound from a winding device in such a way that the spring element achieves its greatest pre-tension when the door leaf is in the closed position and is essentially tension-free when the door leaf is in the open position. The tensile element is narrower at the end facing the winding device than at the end facing the spring element and the winding device includes a guide device, which is used to wind the tensile element in such a way that the wound layers lie adjacent to one another without making contact. To achieve this, the guide faces around the perimeter of the guide device have a continuously increasing radius in the winding direction. This enables the provision of a weight compensation device that achieves the torques required for effective weight compensation by means of a simple construction.

  • Patent number: 7069621
Abstract: A sash balance shoe housing designed to move along a window frame contains a spring attached to the housing and to a first pulley block that is movable along the housing, a second pulley block fixed against movement along the housing integrally molded with a brake mechanism bearing surface for supporting a cam designed to connect to a sash, and a cord attached by one end to one of the first pulley block and the second pulley block, wrapped around at least one pulley in each block and extending from the housing for attaching the other end to the window frame.

  • Patent number: 6560927
Abstract: A counteraction system for a sectional door includes a counterweight system that helps counterbalance the weight of the door and helps hold the door in place when the door is fully open. The counterweight system comprises a suspended string of individual deadweights. As the door opens, the weights sequentially lower onto the floor, in a stacked arrangement, one atop the other. Thus, the hanging weight of the counterweight system decreases as the door opens. To avoid having the counterweight system slam the door open against a hard stop, the counteraction system also includes a brake system that helps bring the door to a smooth stop at the door's fully open position. In some embodiments, the brake system includes a cable that traverses the direction that the door travels. As the door approaches its open position, a protrusion on the door catches the cable, which deflects to decelerate the door.

  • Patent number: 5615452
Abstract: A guard guide surface for the lift-off slot of a tilt sash shoe is disposed obliquely above the lift-off slot to engage the head of a sash pin rising directly vertically from the slot. This prevents accidental withdrawal of a sash pin from a shoe when the sash is tilted. When the sash is slanted, however, for intentional withdrawal from a window, the sash pins can be lifted from their slots in off-vertical motions that clear the guide surface.

  • Patent number: 5558147
Abstract: A door counterweight assembly for positioning on a door shaft is disclosed. A pair of spaced disks are mounted on the door shaft and a tape drive member extends between the disks parallel to the door shaft. A continuous flexible tape has a portion surrounding the shaft. The flexible tape is positioned between the shaft and the drive member. The tape includes another portion which supports a counterweight. Rotation of the shaft folds the tape in a generally circular configuration to increase the counterweight torque applied to the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5216782
Abstract: A sash counterbalance device for a fume hood including a first cable having a first end and a second end, the first end being secured on the left side of a fume hood sash and wherein a first counterweight is secured on the second end of the first cable; a second cable having a first end and a second end, the first end of the second cable being secured on the right side of the sash, and wherein a second counterweight is secured on the second end of the second cable; and an axle which is mounted on the fume hood. The first and second cables are individually, separably, and concentrically wrapped about the axle such that movement of the sash causes a simultaneous movement of the axle by movement of the counterweights axle in a predetermined direction.

  • Patent number: 4512106
Abstract: A device for indicating the failure of one of the cables in a redundant cable system for assisting the movement of a closure which includes means for so connecting each of the cables to a counterweight suspended therefrom that the counterweight is maintained at a first distance from the closure when both cables are intact and the counterweight so moves to a second distance from the closure when one of the two cables fails that the counterweight can move into a position for inhibiting the raising of the closure, thereby indicating the failure of one of the cables. The second distance is greater than the first distance. The connecting means is a pivoting member having two arms, each being adapted for sliding attachment to one of the cables.
