This allows a physical separation between the paths of the two fluids in the exchanger, with the possibility, in particular, of having restricted access for one of the fluids, such as sodium (Na) and non-restricted access for the other of the fluids, such as nitrogen (N2).

Abstract: A hybrid plate-fin heat exchanger for exchanging heat between a first fluid and a second fluid is disclosed. The hybrid plate-fin heat exchanger comprises a plurality of plates, each of which comprises channels for conveying the first fluid. Fins are brazed onto each plate, wherein the fins define a plurality of flow channels for the second fluid. The plates are joined to one another via friction-stir welding in such a way that the brazed regions are fluidically isolated from the first fluid during operation. As a result, the heat exchanger is suitable for use in applications that use a first fluid, such as seawater or geothermal fluid, which is corrosive for the brazed regions.

Abstract: A heat exchanger for transferring heat between two fluids consists of a shell surrounding at least two tube bundles attached at both ends to a tube header. Each of the tube bundles is constructed from a plurality of individual tubes that are twisted into identical helixes formed about a common helical axis. Because each individual tube is formed in the shape of a helix, rather than as a straight tube, thermal elongation of the individual tubes results in a considerably reduced axial force on the tube attachments and tube header. Use of multiple tube bundles wound with opposite twist direction improves spacing efficiency between tubes.

This stream is subjected to processing, preferably involving stripping, so as to separate an aqueous urea stream from residual dissociated carbamate vapor comprising ammonia, carbon dioxide, and water. The urea is fed to a melamine synthesis zone and subjected to melamine forming conditions so as to form melamine and off-gas comprising carbon dioxide and ammonia. The dissociated carbamate vapor and the melamine off-gas are subjected to combined condensation so as to form a dilute melamine off-gas condensate.

  • Patent number: 9512807
Abstract: The present invention relates to a heat exchanger for cooling a gas which can mainly be applied in EGR systems with a floating core. The differences in temperature achieved during operation of the casing and the core of gas ducts housed therein give rise to degrees of expansion which are also different. If the ends of both components were fixed to each other, stresses which would cause the breakage thereof would occur. The common solution applied is to leave one of the ends of the core of ducts floating, i.e., with capacity for longitudinal displacement with respect to the casing to prevent the occurrence of stresses. The floating end of the core has an attachment by means of O-ring gaskets. The O-ring gaskets are made of an elastomer that cannot reach very high temperatures, hence in the state of the art the floating attachment is on the side where the already cooled gas exits.
