Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for forming a plurality of impressions (100) in a target surface (101). The method includes the steps of urging a roller element (110) arranged to rotate about a longitudinal axis (L) in a direction of advancement (A) over a target surface, an angle between the direction of advancement and the longitudinal axis is between 89° and 30°. The method also includes the step of as the roller element rotates, forming successive impressions in the target surface via at least one tooth element (113) extending outwardly at a respective region of an outer surface (112) of the roller element.
Abstract: Rolling basket structure facilitating movement of the rolling device to and from a field-working position includes arm structure pivotally connected to the aft end of tine support members fixed to the rear of the implement frame. Hydraulic cylinders connected between the support members and the arm structure provides quick on-the-go disengagement of the rolling basket with the ground, for example, when wet or sticky ground conditions or the like are encountered. A cylinder lost motion connection facilitates movement of the baskets over ground irregularities and obstacles without operation of the cylinders.

Abstract: A soil transport machine, such as a track type tractor equipped with a bulldozer blade, includes a soil transport interaction surface (blade) with an array of anti-adhesion biomimetic protrusions that project out of a base surface. The biomimetic protrusions may have a smooth convex shape sized and distributed in a manner that reduces soil adhesion and the associated carryback, especially in adhesive soils such as heavy clay. The biomimetic protrusions may be incorporated directly into the surface of the bulldozer blade, or maybe part of a replaceable liner that is attached to the blade body in a conventional manner.

Abstract: An implement having an engine and a transaxle which may be rigidly and directly attached to one another in a vertically stacked orientation to form an engine and transaxle module. The implement also includes ground engaging wheels attached to the transaxle axles, a handle allowing control of the implement, and one of a plurality of interchangeable working devices attached to the engine and transaxle module. For example, the implement may be a snow thrower having an auger assembly which is operatively coupled to one of the engine and the transaxle. The transaxle may include a pair of axially aligned axles which are selectively coupled together, such that when the axles are coupled together, the wheels are rotatably fixed together, and when the axles are not coupled together, the wheels are free to rotate relative to each other.

Abstract: Driving worm provided on a transmission shaft, driven worm wheel provided on a cultivating shaft, main shaft portion of the transmission shaft and clutch are collectively accommodated in a transmission casing, which includes first and second bearings for preventing the clutch and driving gear from being displaced toward each other. The main shaft portion is screw-coupled to the clutch and a direction in which the screw-coupling between the main shaft portion and the clutch is tightened corresponds to only one rotational direction of an engine. The casing has a single opening for inserting therein the worm and worm wheel, and the opening is closed with a lid that also functions to prevent the worm from coming off the casing.
Abstract: Machine for working the soil in tree or shrub plantations, consisting of a chassis (1-2) equipped with mechanisms (4-5a, 11, 11) allowing it to be mounted on the universal three-point hitch system of a farm tractor and consisting, laterally, of mechanisms (28a, 28b) permitting the mounting of lateral tools (29A, 29B) allowing the working of the soil near the feet of the aligned trees or shrubs and mechanisms for driving these tools in rotation from the power take-off shaft of the tractor, characterized in that the chassis (1-2) is itself provided with a universal three-point hitch system (4-5b, 13, 13) allowing the mounting, on this chassis, of a second machine that customarily moves in between the rows, for the working or the treatment of the soil, or any other job related to the cultivating of the trees or shrubs.
Abstract: A soil tiller assembly for plowing multiple independent rows of soil includes a frame and attached thereto a coulter, a pair of tiller discs, a pair of secondary coulters, and a tilling assembly including a tiller wheel. The perimeter of the tiller wheel has a plurality of blades attached thereto, and the blades are rotated in the direction opposite each of the other blades described above. The soil tiller assembly is used to build up separate rows of plowed soil, which will prevent overtilling of the soil. Furthermore, the preferred method of operation allows the operator to build multiple rows of soil, delay contact of the soil for several months, and then plant seed in the rows of soil, such that the soil will receive required nutrients during the period of delay while further limiting erosion.
Abstract: A machine for preparation of soil comprises a soil lifting device for lifting a layer of soil, a soil breaking device for breaking up the layer of soil, and a frame, the soil lifting device and soil breaking device being attached to the frame.
Abstract: A tool bar for placement of a band of fertilizer in soil has a vertical knife with a horizontal blade thereon to create an inverted T-shaped slot in the soil. A band of fertilizer is placed in the bottom of the slot through a tube on the knife. A first coulter fills the slot with soil and compacts the soil above the band. A second coulter forms a mound of soil over the compacted soil and creates an elongated furrow in the soil above and laterally removed from the band. The method of placement of a band of fertilizer in soil sequentially moves the soil and creates the band as accomplished by the foregoing structure.

Abstract: An earth-working implement and a method utilizing such an implement for preparing soil for planting seeds and concurrently planting the seeds wherein a plate-like plow stock penetrates the soil to a substantial depth below ground level, and the soil is concurrently leveled and smoothed inwardly behind the plow stock by concave and forwardly diverging cutting discs straddling the forward path of the plow stock and whose lower extremities are spaced a substantial distance above that of the plow stock for forming a substantially smooth linear area of loose soil. A furrow opener, behind the plow stock, forms a planting furrow in the soil along the linear area, while seeds are being deposited in the furrow and soil is pressed to cover the thus planted seeds. An improved mounting post arrangement is provided for supporting each of the diverging discs in predetermined angular relationship.
Abstract: A root and stalk shredder having a frame, a pair of longitudinally extending, parallel, power driven lifting rollers rotatably mounted on the frame and extending longitudinally parallel to a path of travel of the shredder, guide means mounted on the frame forward of the rollers in the direction of movement of the shredder for guiding stalks between the rollers, a blade assembly mounted on the frame over the rollers and operatively associated with the rollers for cutting roots and stalks lifted by the rollers, and a plow assembly mounted on the frame and provided with a fin assembly for facilitating use of the shredder to re-shape a bed being cleared. A bed re-shaping assembly is mounted at the rear end of the shredder frame for covering over shredded crop residue deflected down into the bed by a deflector shield also arranged at the rear of the shredder frame.
