Plural Tool Groups Relatively Vertically Movable Because Of Operation Patents (Class 172/619)
  • Patent number: 9926678
Abstract: The present invention relates to a screed for a paving machine that includes a flexible smoothing plate, a vertex block a first actuator, and a second actuator. The flexible smoothing plate is provided with a longitudinal length and an outer longitudinal end. The vertex block is located on top of the flexible smoothing plate. The first actuator is connected to the outer longitudinal end and adapted to selectively adjust an elevation of the outer longitudinal end so that the outer longitudinal end of the flexible smoothing plate forms a berm by flexing about the vertex block and extending upward at an angle relative to an inner portion of the flexible smoothing plate. The second actuator is connected to the vertex block and configured to adjust the length of the berm by selectively repositioning the vertex block along the longitudinal length of the flexible smoothing plate.

  • Patent number: 4977964
Abstract: A normally rigid planar framework for mounting a large number of ground working tools is made resilient to accommodate the torsional forces exerted on the rigid structural members of the framework as it passes over uneven ground and the tools are subjected to varying forces as they move through the ground. Resilience of the framework is achieved by having the structural members which are normally rigidly fastened together, fastened together instead by resilient fastening which permits torsional flexing between the rigid members so fastened. Additionally, rigid structural members of the framework which normally are pivotally connected to permit movement only around the pin axis of the pivotal connection, are resiliently pivotally connected so that slight rotation of the structural members can occur around the other two axes which intersect the pin axis of the respective pivotal connections at mutual right angles.

  • Patent number: 4426940
Abstract: A machine for burying slurry, sewage, or other soil-improving fluids has a hollow straight forward-leaning tine which carries at its bottom end an arched, forward-sloping delta-shaped shoe for lifting the soil into the form of a tunnel. The hollow interior of the tine opens through the roof of this shoe, and slurry is delivered through the tine into the cavity under the shoe. A free-running vibrator on the tine vibrates it and the shoe vertically. The tine is resiliently loaded by a spring to its working position, and the reaction of the spring is applied directly to a reaction lever separately pivoted on a subframe carrying the tine. The spring reaction biases the lever downwards, and the lever is supported at its rearward end behind the tine by a roller which closes the slit formed by the tapered leading edge of the tine.

  • Patent number: 4328869
Abstract: An implement with a wing lift wherein the wing is displaceable from a wheel supported floating, ground working position approximately 180.degree. to a transport position where it lies inverted on the implement. The wing lift includes a pair of toggle links with one link pivotally connected to the wing hinge, a stop on the wing hinge, a lift arm pivotally connected to the implement central frame hinge structure and to the other toggle link and a hydraulic cylinder mounted on the central frame with the rod end pivotally connected to the lift arm and the other link of the toggle links. The lift arm also has a roller for contact by the wing hinge ramp. The toggle link construction allows the wing to float upwardly and downwardly in the working position without affecting the cylinder. The toggle links, upon abutting the stop, raise the wing when the cylinder is retracted until the links break wherein the roller engages the wing hinge ramp to support the wing to and in the inverted position without wing fall.

  • Patent number: 4291638
Abstract: The present invention provides in an agricultural ground treating device particularly but not exclusively a seed drill arranged to be towed over the ground and having a plurality of ground engaging implements, means for causing all of the implements to engage the ground with a substantially equal force.Preferably the means to equalizing the forces comprises a pivotal beam arrangement in which the implements are movably mounted on the chassis of the device and connected in pairs at each end of an associated balance beam, these balance beams are pivotally mounted at their mid points on respective ends of further balance beams which are mounted by their mid points at respective ends of yet further balance beams, and so on according to the number of implements on the device, the final balance beam or final pair of balance beams being connected to means on the chassis of the device for urging them, and the implements connected thereto towards the ground.

  • Patent number: 4114695
Abstract: An implement has an elongated frame that extends transverse to the direction of travel and soil-working members rotatably mounted on a portion of the frame that depends from spaced apart, forward and rear frame beams. A coupling assembly having coupling points for auxiliary implements is pivoted to the forward frame beam by two beam members that extend rearwardly and rest on top of the rear frame beam to limit the downward movement of the assembly when the implement is raised. The rear ends of the beam members are connected to a tubular beam and further beams extend rearward from the tubular beam. A transverse beam interconnects the further beams centrally thereof and coupling points such as hooks are adjustably connected to plates that depend from the further beams. A central coupling point is fastened to the transverse beam and the further beams are adjustable to vary the width of the assembly.

  • Patent number: 4049061
Abstract: A cultivating implement or rotary harrow has two groups of soil working members mounted on upwardly extending shafts that extend transverse to the direction of operative travel. The groups of soil working members are adjustably linked to an elongated frame of the harrow and the front of the longer side of the frame has a coupling member for connection to the rear of a prime mover for soil working operation. One of the shorter sides has a second coupling member that can be coupled to the prime mover during transport. Pairs of ground wheels at the front and rear of the frame are employed to support the harrow both in operative and in transport positions. Each group of soil working members has a supporting rear roller and arms that extend from the front of the frame over the roller to support a tool bar to which seed drills, for instance, can be connected.
