Latch Holds Mechanism Retracted Patents (Class 175/277)
  • Patent number: 11319756
Abstract: An apparatus for cutting into a subterranean formation includes a body and multiple cutting blades distributed around a circumference of the body. The cutting blades are configured to cut into the subterranean formation in response to being rotated. Each cutting blade includes a ball embedded in the respective cutting blade. At least a portion of the ball protrudes towards the subterranean formation from the respective cutting blade in which the ball is embedded. Each ball is configured to roll against the subterranean formation to reduce friction while the cutting blades are rotating.

  • Patent number: 10519719
Abstract: A retractable auger boring cutter head. The cutter head has fixed cutters and at least one pivoting cutter. The pivoting cutter is biased to a position that extends beyond a diameter of a casing being installed. When pulled back through the casing, a surface of the pivoting cutter contacts the casing, reducing the effective diameter of the cutter head and allowing it to be removed.

  • Patent number: 9273945
Abstract: A disclosed measurement head includes a sensor body attached to a camera by a resilient member. The sensor body includes a sensor that measures linear distance and is actuated by arms pivoting outward from the sensor body into contact with an interior surface of pipe for measurement. Each of the arms includes a catch engageable to a latch sleeve to hold each of the arms in a compact folded position for insertion into a pipe. The latch sleeve is movable to release the catch and the arms to provide for measurement of the interior profile of the pipe. Another measurement head includes guide wires attached to an end of each of the arms. The guide wires provide for movement of the arms to provide for insertion of the measurement head into and through a pipe.

  • Patent number: 3952818
Abstract: A grooving bucket for forming grooves or bells in the ground around a previously drilled hole to allow casting of a concrete pile, the grooving bucket consisting of a cylindrical bucket portion fitted at the upper end with a boot or connecting box to fit the appropriate drilling machine kelly bar. Pivoted cutter arms protrude from each side of the bucket and are held in the horizontal or cutting position preferably by heavy duty tension springs. The cutters are hollow or channeled and are angled to cut a groove or bell in the ground on rotation of the bucket and to lead spoil or rock cuttings into the interior of the bucket. The bucket may be provided with a bottom hinged door to facilitate removal of spoil from inside the bucket.
