Supplemental Weight Offsetting Means Patents (Class 177/203)
  • Publication number: 20130319072
Abstract: A load cell (10), which includes a weighing system (14) having a force application point (18), a load boom arm (20) for receiving the loads to be weighed at a position remote from the force application point (18) and an adjusting device, wherein an adjusting weight boom arm (28) is provided which extends in a longitudinal direction (A) defined by the load boom arm on the side opposing the load boom arm (20) relative to the force application point (18) and which has at least two pre-determined adjusting weight engagement points (36, 38). An activating unit (34) places at least one adjusting weight (30, 32) on at least one of the adjusting weight engagement points (36, 38).

  • Publication number: 20090090565
Abstract: A scale can include a low capacity sensing mechanism operatively coupled to a load, wherein the low capacity sensing mechanism may detect movement of the load. A transfer mechanism can be operatively coupled to the low capacity sensing mechanism, wherein the low capacity sensing mechanism may enable the scale to weigh both relatively heavy loads and relatively light loads to a minor division resolution associated with the low capacity sensing mechanism.

  • Patent number: 7315003
Abstract: Electronic weighing devices and method are disclosed wherein balances (particularly of the direct load type) are adapted to utilize less power thus creating less system heat and thereby enhancing weighing accuracy and range of operation. A preferred embodiment of the device includes a frame having an articulating load support structure connected thereto. The support structure carries a coil and movable capacitor plate while the frame locates a permanent magnet and fixed capacitor plate. An elastic offset, such as a spring, is adjustably located between the support structure and the frame to offset, or counterbalance, the support structure, preferably up to about one-half of the balance's rated capacity in any particular embodiment. A push-pull servo system initially causes current in the coil to flow in a direction producing a resultant force which is additive to the pan load. Only when the counterbalancing force is exceeded by the pan load does the coil current produce a force opposing the pan load.

  • Patent number: 6284987
Abstract: A weighing scale detects and indicates changes in a small weight that is embedded within a much larger residual weight. The scale device has a base and a top weighing pan above it, with a linkage supported between the base and the top pan. A counterbalance weight lever is supported on a pivot member, and has one end connected to the linkage, and a counterbalance weight on the other end. An adjustable tensioning spring provides a balancing force for the counterbalance weight lever within the weight range of the critical weight. A potentiometer of other detecting device can provide an electrical signal to an alarm device to warn the consumer that the weight of a consumable quantity has dropped into the critical weight range.

  • Patent number: 5811739
Abstract: A bale weighing device for use with a mobile baler is disclosed. The weighing device comprises a support structure which is attached to the baler and pivotably supports a pivot shaft. Two balance arms are rigidly attached to the pivot shaft and support a bale chute. One of the balance arms has a forward end and a rear end which form an angle in the balance arm. The bale chute is attached to the baler by a double hinge which allows the bale chute to move vertically relative to the baler. When a bale is resting in the bale chute, the forward end of the balance arm moves upward and a pointer indicates the relative weight of the bale on a gauge. An electronic position sensor may also be used to indicate the weight of the bale.
