Alternating Weigh Chambers Patents (Class 177/90)
  • Patent number: 7211746
Abstract: A weigh-pan metering and blending apparatus having a holding chamber for receiving fiber from a fiber distributer and providing temporary storage of the fiber. The metering chamber meters the fiber received from the holding chamber, wherein the metering chamber includes at least one discharge device for advancing the fiber to diverter doors pivotally mounted at one end of the metering chamber for oscillating movement between first and second downstream delivery openings. First and second weigh-pans communicating with respective ones of the first and second downstream delivery openings receive the fiber from the metering chamber. First and second discharge chambers receive the fiber from respective ones of the first and second weigh-pans, wherein the first and second discharge chambers include a discharge device for advancing the fiber to adjacent transfer ducts for discharge.

  • Patent number: 4616722
Abstract: A computerized scale in which each weighing bucket is formed by two side-by-side compartments and by a single door which shuttles back and forth between two positions beneath the compartments. Each time the door changes positions, it closes one compartment to permit product to be dropped into and weighed in such compartment and, at the same time, opens the other compartment to permit previously weighed product to fall therefrom. As a result, one compartment is filled as the other compartment is being emptied so as to significantly increase the cycle rate of the scale.

  • Patent number: 4579252
Abstract: A loss-in-weight gravimetric feeding system is disclosed which includes a prefeeder for receiving and discharging material and at least first and second feeders for receiving material from the prefeeder and discharging the received material to a common collector. The system includes a device for alternately diverting material discharged from the prefeeder to the first and second feeders, circuits for generating a first and second weight signal representative of the weight of material in the first and second feeders respectively, and structure for generating a reference signal representative of a desired mass flow rate of material from a feeder. The system further includes a circuit for alternately comparing the reference signal to the first and second weight signals in synchronism with the diverting device for controlling each of the feeders based on the comparison between the reference signal and the weight signal associated with the feeder.
