  • Patent number: 11727909
Abstract: An acoustic metamaterial (AMM) passive impedance matching technique to enhance the acoustic performance of porous/poro-elastic sound absorbing materials is disclosed. An AMM passive matching device is implemented by achieving negative refractive index with double negative parameters, i.e., negative effective mass density and effective bulk modulus scheme, using various acoustic elements. The AMM technique consists of meta material architecture of acoustic inductive open tubes positioned strategically around the outside surfaces of the porous media and perforated screens inserted inside porous media to generate complex acoustic impedance load of the porous media; the inductance defined by a predetermined lengths of the open tubes. The device includes open tubes extending from the porous media to the outside ambient medium generating the desired reactive load over the broadband frequency region of the complex acoustic impedance of the porous media.

Abstract: An exemplary inventive subordinate oscillator array (SOA) includes two or more vibration attenuation devices (oscillators) that are sequentially arranged (e.g., via beams in the SOA) so that their respective anti-vibratory influences overlap. To design the SOA, an optimal number N of oscillators is calculated according to the equation N=?Q?, where ? is the modal overlap, Q is the quality factor, and ? is the desired fractional bandwidth. Each oscillator is akin to a conventional dynamic vibration absorber (DVA) and is characterized by its own mass, stiffness, damping, and geometry (e.g., length, width, and height). The respective characteristics of the oscillators are selected and the oscillators are distributed so that the SOA, when suitably attached to a vibrative structure, attenuates the vibrations of the structure so as to approximately flatten the structure's vibrations over a frequency band of interest.

The seal may be configured as an elongated rail having first and seal surfaces with adhesive elements disposed on laterally offset first and second adhesive-bearing portions thereof. When installed, the elongated rail can maintain a non-deformed state when opposing faces of the mullion and the architectural separation are separated by a distance equal to the elongated rail thickness. The elongated rail can assume a deformed state when the opposing faces of the mullion and the architectural separation are separated by a distance greater than the elongated rail thickness. In the deformed state, the longitudinal edges of the elongated rail become offset from each other in a direction normal to first and second seal surfaces. The elongated rail cross-section flexes proximate to first and second flex locations that may optionally include stress relief features.

  • Patent number: 10113610
Abstract: A method to improve vibration isolation in semiconductor process level inhibits vibration frequencies transmitted through building structure from production tools, pumps, compressors, chillers, AHUs (Air Handling Units), and footfalls traffic on raised floor system on to tool pedestals and pads from affecting semiconductor fabrication processes. Rapid advancement and technological evolution in semiconductor industry foresee the imminent requirements for decrease in semiconductor chip node sizes to single digit nanometer. Dealing with such advancements, the tool pedestal systems are also requiring tighter specifications for stiffness and vibration isolation/reduction. Some key tools used in the semiconductor fabrication process require improved barrier from electromagnetic interference (EMI), as the disturbance from EMI degrade the performance of semiconductor processing tools that are key to the fabrication process and production yield rate.
