Fusible Safety Means For Lubrication Device Patents (Class 184/107)
  • Patent number: 9945421
Abstract: A bearing retainer for use in a bearing is provided. The bearing includes an inner ring, rolling elements and an outer ring. The bearing retainer includes a body. The body defines an inner periphery and an outer periphery of the body. The body further defines a plurality of inner walls. Each inner wall defines an opening extending from the inner periphery to the outer periphery of the body. The plurality of openings are adapted to receive one of the rolling elements. The inner walls are adapted to keep the rolling elements in a spaced apart relationship. At least one of the inner walls defines a aperture through the body. The aperture is adapted for storing lubrication therein.

  • Patent number: 8240434
Abstract: flow control arrangement for controlling the flow of lubricant discharged from a bearing includes a flow control member locatable, in use, adjacent to the bearing. The flow control member defines a generally radially outer edge and is rotatable to direct lubricant discharged onto the flow control member radially outwardly towards the outer edge for ejection therefrom.

  • Patent number: 4962831
Abstract: Fires caused by the leakage of lubricating oil spraying under pressure from lubricating oil conduits feeding bearings are controlled by stopping the flow of the lubricating oil in response to greater than normal flow of the oil through the conduit and simultaneously shutting down the machine having the bearing to which the oil is fed. A valve mounted in each conduit includes a valve element movable in response to the greater than normal flow through the conduit from a first position, to which it is biased and in which it is spaced from a valve seat, to a second position in which it engages the valve seat. A magnet mounted on the valve element actuates a magnetically operated switch connected in a circuit for shutting down the machine when the valve element moves at least part way from the first position to the second position. An alarm is activated as the machine is being shut down.

  • Patent number: 4917218
Abstract: A secondary oil system for a gas turbine engine includes a dual phase blocking member in a passage between an oil reservoir and a secondary orifice adjacent a bearing of the engine. The blocking member has a first phase at temperatures below a threshold temperature of the bearing in which the blocking member prevents secondary oil flow and a second phase at temperatures above the threshold temperature in which the blocking member permits secondary oil flow. Normally, primary oil flow maintains the bearing at an operating temperature below the threshold temperature so that secondary oil flow is normally blocked. After primary oil flow stops, the bearing temperature increases to the threshold temperature and the blocking member transitions to its second phase to initiate secondary lubrication.

  • Patent number: 4903579
Abstract: A hydraulic power drive unit for connection to the hydraulic system of an agricultural tractor is provided with a pressure release valve to protect the unit seal from damage if connected the wrong way round, and a bleed pipe which bursts to relieve pressure if the pressure release valve fails to operate.

  • Patent number: 4523118
Abstract: A method of providing a lubrication system for a shaft journaled in a dynamoelectric machine. In this method, the shaft is lubricated with a solid lubricant of a feeder wick member impregnated therewith during at least a part of the run-in operation of the dynamoelectric machine when it is first energized. A mixture of a lubricating oil and the solid lubricant is then created to effect the lubrication of the shaft by passing the lubricating oil from a storage wick material therefor through the feeder wick member in response to the rotation of the shaft when the dynamoelectric machine is energized.
