  • Patent number: 10242313
Abstract: A technical solution is described for implementing a computer-executed system of association memory matrices to replace the proximal layers of a convolutional neural network (CNN). An example method includes configuring one Associative Memory Matrix (AMM) for each configured layer in the CNN. This one-to-one conversion method motivates the name to the product: the Joint Proximity Association Template (JPAT) for Neural Networks. The invention is a numerically stable soft-ware based implementation that (1) reduces the long training times, (2) reduces the execution time, and (3) produces bidirectional intra-layer connections and potentially, inter-layer connections as well. The method further includes, potentially, forming a single AMM, from the multiple AMMs corresponding to the multiple and proximal layers of the CNN, in anticipation of the well-known Universal Approximation Theorem.

Abstract: A tool sharpener has a guide assembly to support a cutting tool adjacent an abrasive medium. A drive assembly advances the abrasive medium with respect to the guide assembly. A control mechanism provides a first control input value to move the medium and achieve a first material take off (MTO) rate during a coarse sharpening operation upon the tool. A second control input value from the control circuit moves the medium to achieve a lower, second MTO rate during a fine sharpening operation. The control mechanism transitions the medium from the first MTO rate to the second MTO rate responsive to a timer mechanism indicating a conclusion of a predetermined elapsed time interval.

Abstract: An electronic comparison system includes input stages that successively provide bits of code words. One-shots connected to respective stages successively provide a first bit value until receiving a bit having a non-preferred value concurrently with an enable signal, and then provide a second, different bit value. Abstract: The present invention relates to a turbine which can absorb energy from bi-directional reversing flows, as is the case of ocean wave energy converters. In the periphery of the bladed rotor (2) of the turbine there are two openings (5, 6) through which the fluid alternately enters, or exits from, the rotor, the outward flow being radially centrifugal and the inward flow being radially centripetal. The turbine stator comprises two sets of guide vanes (7, 8) for alternately directing the bi-directional reversing flow to, and from, the rotor, and two ducts (9, 12) disposed between the rotor and the guide vanes and extending radially beyond the guide vanes. Two stator arrangements are considered. In both arrangements, the inlet guide vanes deflect the inward flow and impart a circumferential swirl component in the same direction as the normal rotational direction of the rotor.
