  • Publication number: 20130001052
Abstract: A mechanical interlock socket outlet includes a female receptacle mounted to a face plate, a breaker box, a toggle switch for activating the breaker box, and an actuating rod for operating the toggle switch. A locking arm is provided for engaging the actuating rod and has a first position and a second position. A safety release saddle plate is engaged to the actuating rod. The plate has a locking arm release portion such that movement of the plate will contact the locking arm and move the locking arm from the first to a second position. Springs are connected between the plate and the face plate, and connected to a portion of the saddle plate adjacent a top portion of the plate. The springs act to return the saddle plate and toggle switch to a locked position. A push pin is provided to move the saddle plate.

  • Patent number: 8004283
Abstract: An arc fault circuit breaker includes a panel having a first side and an opposite second side, a housing coupled to the opposite second side of the panel, separable contacts, an operating mechanism structured to open and close the separable contacts, and a trip mechanism cooperating with the operating mechanism to trip open the separable contacts. The trip mechanism includes a test circuit structured to simulate a trip condition to trip open the separable contacts, and a proximity sensor disposed on or within the housing proximate the opposite second side of the panel. The proximity sensor is structured to sense a target to actuate the test circuit when the target is disposed proximate the first side of the panel and opposite the proximity sensor.

  • Patent number: 7408472
Abstract: The present invention is a thermally activated electrical switch for use in simulating human activity. The invention is features dual heat sources enclosed in a thermally isolated chamber within the invention. Since the activation of the switch is dependent upon the ambient temperature of the environment, it opens and closes at sufficiently random intervals to simulate human activity. This embodiment includes the use of a photoelectric sensor to further vary timing of the switch actuation.

  • Patent number: 6835903
Abstract: The automatic locking and releasing structure for a push-pull plug of this invention includes an upper case, a bottom case, a slider and push-buttons. The bottom case is suspended therein with two symmetrically arranged slide tracks that are each provided at the inside thereof with a wedge piece. The opposing sides of the slider are each formed with a resilient retaining arm, and the slider is movably provided between the two slide tracks. The free ends of the resilient retaining arms are movably attached to the push-buttons provided at the outside of the slide tracks. As such, when one manipulates the push-buttons to move along slide slots formed in the upper case and bottom case, the slider may be retracted or extended at the same time thereby subjecting the resilient retaining arms to assume a locking or releasing state with respect to the wedge pieces.

  • Patent number: 6734769
Abstract: A blocking member located within the body of the GFCI is positioned by the reset button to allow free access of the prongs of a plug into the openings of the receptacle when the reset button is depressed or to block at least one opening of the receptacle to prevent a plug from entering the openings of the receptacle when the reset button projects out beyond the surface of the housing. Thus, when the GFCI is in a conducting state, the reset button is recessed within the GFCI housing and positions the blocking member to the first position to allow the prongs of a plug to be inserted into the receptacle openings. When the GFCI is in a non-conducting state, the reset button protrudes outward from the housing of the GFCI to position the blocking member to the second position to block at least one opening of the receptacle to prevent the prongs of a plug from entering the receptacle.
