  • Patent number: 5714208
Abstract: A repair kit comprising fiber reinforced patching material impregnated with an ultra-violet light activated resin contained in a sealed package. In the preferred embodiment, the patching materials include a first piece of fiber reinforced material having randomly arranged fiber filaments or strands (i.e. a mat), and a second piece of fiber reinforced material having uniformly oriented fiber filaments (i.e. a cloth or roving). The impregnated first and second pieces of fiber reinforced material form a substantially inseparable, unitary patch when impregnated with the resin. The patch may also comprise a fiber reinforced mat and any variety of fiber reinforced cloth or roving attached thereto to form a single piece of fiber reinforced material such that the fiber filaments on one side of the patch are randomly arranged and the fiber filaments on the opposing side are uniformly oriented.
