  • Patent number: 9862625
Abstract: A water conditioning system for use in a building that produces wastewater that contains phosphates. The wastewater exits the building through a pipe that directs the wastewater directly to a septic tank. A phosphate precipitation solution is provided in a reservoir. A flow meter is installed that measures fresh water flowing into the building. Furthermore, an injection port is installed into the pipe before the septic tank. The phosphate precipitation solution is pumped into the pipe through the injection port at a rate that is controlled by the flow being measured by the flow meter. The phosphate precipitation solution mixes with the wastewater to create treated effluent. The treated effluent flows into the septic tank where the phosphates form salts and collect as solids.

As the filter aid, an aid including SiO2 in 50% or more and a cellulose-based aid are mixed for use. The dope stock solution in which the filter aid is dispersed is introduced into a filter machine and subjected to filtration while forming a cake on the surface of the filtering material. After the filtration, a cleaning solvent is supplied in circulation from a cleaning solvent tank, and the cake is discharged as slurry. The filter aid is separated from the slurry by a separating device and burned in a burning device. Then, a regenerated filter aid is sent to the filter aid tank.

Abstract: A filtration apparatus is provided which is easy to maintain, manage and which enables preservation of filtration characteristics due to the fact that filtration is carried out by use of a gelatinous filter apparatus. In the filtration apparatus, filtration characteristics can be maintained by providing a bubble supplying mechanism for removing a sedimentary layer comprising removables that is formed on a surface of a filtration film and a filtration characteristics restoring mechanism for restoring the filter film clogged by the removables by causing a back-flow of filtered water accumulated in a cistern. Filtration apparatus maintenance and management are facilitated by improving recovery efficiency of the precipitated removables by tapering a lower part inside a raw water tank and providing a recovery tank for recovering removables via a valve.

Abstract: A drainless reverse osmosis (RO) water purification system provides relatively pure water for on-demand dispensing, while recycling brine to a domestic hot water system. The drainless purification system includes a pre-filter catalyst cartridge for removing chlorine-based contaminants from a tap water supply upstream from an RO membrane. The catalyst is regularly refreshed by a high through-flow of water to a conventional cold water dispense faucet, thereby significantly prolonging the service life of the RO membrane. The RO membrane is incorporated into a multi-cartridge unit adapted for facilitated slide-out removal and replacement as needed. A control valve recycles brine from the RO membrane to the hot water system during pure water production, and recirculates tap water through the RO membrane when a pure water reservoir is substantially filled. The multi-cartridge unit may further include an air filtration system for providing a flow of filtered air.

Abstract: Using the filter auxiliary agent separated by backwashing from a filter element repeatedly and effectively, the consumption amount of a filter auxiliary agent and the generation of industrial waste can be suppressed. In a filter auxiliary agent pre-coat circuit, a filter auxiliary agent in a pre-coat tank is attached and stacked on a filter element in a filter case, and a filter auxiliary agent layer is formed. In a filter circuit, the filter auxiliary agent layer of the filter element removes sludge in the filter treatment liquid in a main tank. A backwashing circuit breaks down the filter auxiliary agent layer and a sludge layer, separates the filter auxiliary agent layer and the sludge layer by backwashing from the filter element, and circulates to the pre-coat tank. After repeating these steps a plurality of times, the filter auxiliary agent and sludge separated by backwashing are taken out to the exterior.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for removing wax products from a slurry used in a Fischer-Tropsch reactor. The preferred embodiments of the present invention are characterized by a solid/liquid separation system that removes liquid products from a slurry by drawing the fluid across a filter medium composed of a filter cake disposed on a substrate. In the preferred embodiments, the filter cake is desirable and performs the majority of the filtration. In certain embodiments, the filter medium is disposed in a filter housing where slurry flows parallel to the longitudinal axis of the filter medium from and inlet to an outlet. The characteristics or properties of the cake, which will effect the performance of the solid/liquid separation system, can be controlled by regulating the velocity of the slurry flowing across the cake, where the velocity may be regulated by adjusting the slurry flow through the filter housing or may be self-regulated by changing slurry velocities influenced by the design of the filter housing.
