  • Patent number: 8999414
Abstract: A Dual use food container has two sets of holding surfaces, one positions food items such as taco shells for storage and transport and the other set of surfaces position the taco shell in a position for assembly so the cook can add ingredients like meat, cheese and sauce to the shell without it tipping over. The formed surfaces that enable one position exist substantially without interference with the surfaces that enable the alternative position. A thin film can be applied to the top of the container to seal the food within when positioned for storage and transport and can be adopted to fit snugly in a box further protecting the food. Thin formable materials can be used in making the container. Versions of this material can allow food to be safely warmed in an oven within the container. Methods for preparing food within the container are also disclosed.

Abstract: The bulk bin of the present invention comprises four sides and a base. The interior of the bulk bin comprises a substantially smooth and continuous surface, without any sharp or abrupt corners or edges. Each of the sides comprises a top strip portion and a curved wall portion. The top strip is substantially straight in the horizontal direction, whereas the curved wall portion is curved (in a concave manner) in the horizontal direction. A chamfer provides a smooth transition between the relative straightness of the top strip portion and the concavity of the curved wall portion, while maintaining the overall smooth and continuous interior surface of the bulk bin.

Abstract: A technique for allowing the convenient and orderly withdrawal of contents is disclosed. An apparatus according to the technique may include a container which includes an enhancement at the rim of the container. The enhancement provides the functionality to move edible and/or inedible substances onto objects. In one example, the enhancement may protrude inwardly as a smoothed surface that may push substances onto objects as the objects are removed from the container.

Abstract: A component for a storage container configured to receive vertically oriented articles. The component includes a tubular sidewall extending longitudinally from a base, and at least one spacer portion extending from an underside of the base and configured for engagement with an interior surface of a corresponding storage container. The component also includes at least one pair of retainer elements extending laterally from an inner surface of the tubular sidewall and inwardly into an interior region of the component, and with the retainer elements being oppositely oriented and configured to retain a vertically oriented article therebetween by frictional engagement with opposite longitudinal edges of the article, and wherein an insertion force for resilient deflection of the retainer elements during insertion of the article is less than a removal force for resilient deflection of the retainer elements during removal of the article.

Abstract: A package for delivery of a tacky product includes a carrier with a plurality of cavities separately disposed along a length and width thereof. Each of the cavities in the carrier tape includes a base that is sized to operably receive and support the product within the cavity. The base of each cavity includes a surface profile which defines a contact surface area that is sufficiently low so as to facilitate removal of the product from the cavity without damage to the product. In some cases, the contact surface area is less than about 50% of a base surface area of the base. The carrier may be configured to stack with other carriers without risk of damage to the tacky product.

Abstract: A container made of thermoplastic material, including a body that extends between a neck and a base that is able to withstand, without significantly deforming, a hydrostatic pressure caused by the column of a liquid contained in the container, the column of liquid being increased by a pressure not exceeding 2×105 Pa. The base includes main ribs in the form of grooves that are open towards the outside and extend approximately radially, passing through an annular zone that forms an approximately flat seat by way of which the base can rest in a stable manner on a flat support. The main ribs extend upwards on a wall connecting the base to the body of the container. The container has a shoulder that forms a joining zone between the connecting wall and the body of the container, and the main ribs extend upwards beyond the shoulder.
