  • Patent number: 7828926
Abstract: The present invention provides assemblies and methods for selectively removing resin coatings from a radiation detector. A method includes positioning a cutting edge on a resin coating formed on a radiation detector. The method further includes positioning a bonding member on the resin coating, applying a force to the bonding member such that a portion of the resin coating is pulled away from the radiation detector, and cutting the resin coating so as to detach the portion of the resin coating pulled away from the detector, thereby selectively removing the portion of the resin coating from the radiation detector.

  • Publication number: 20090277942
Abstract: To obtain a tape cutter in which comfortable use is ensured when a guard mechanism is interlocked with up/down motion of a sticking portion in view of a fact that a cut-well sharp blade can be fixed if safety of a finger is ensured at the edge. A tape sticking portion separate from a blade and slidable up/down and a planar edge guard moving up/down together with the tape sticking portion are provided in front of the blade, and a pair of arm-like edge guards are provided on the opposite sides thereof such that they are opened/closed while interlocking with up/down movement of the sticking portion. Since safety of a finger is ensured at the edge and the guard arm is opened/closed automatically, the tape cutter can be used by an operation substantially similar to that of a conventional common tape cutter. Furthermore, a magnet is used for sustaining the open state of the guard arm and the sticking portion and its holder can incline when they are pulled to the reel side.

  • Patent number: 6978071
Abstract: An apparatus to cleave an optical fiber includes a base plate, a jig slidably provided on the base plate and holding the optical fiber, a stripper provided near the jig, and including a hot plate heating a sheath of the optical fiber, a sheath cutter cleaving the sheath of the optical fiber to be stripped, a cleaning part cleaning the optical fiber after the sheath of the optical fiber is stripped according as the jig slides, and a cleaver provided on the base plate and cleaving the optical fiber whose sheath is stripped by the stripper. With this configuration, an apparatus is provided to cleave an optical fiber, in which stripping and cleaning processes are simultaneously performed in a stripper, so that the whole process of cleaving the optical fiber is decreased, and the structure of the apparatus is simplified without the conventional cleaning part.

  • Patent number: 6619524
Abstract: A device for dispensing tickets from a continuous strip of paper, the device comprising a mechanism for pinching the paper, a cutter blade extending substantially across the strip and having a cutting edge against which the strip bears, the cutting edge of the blade intersecting the plane of the strip of paper coming into contact with the blade before cutting starts, and a support element for supporting the strip between the pinch mechanism and the cutter blade. In the device, the support element also comprises a flap hinged about a fixed axis, the surface of the flap being of a shape such that after about half of the cut has been achieved, the zone of contact between the flap and the strip remaining to be cut moves away from the blade as cutting progresses.

  • Patent number: 5676297
Abstract: A film dispenser includes a housing having bottom, front, rear and side walls and a pivotally mounted top cover. The front wall defines a substantially elongate opening. Film or wrap severing means are provided at or adjacent said opening. An elongate and transversely extending support recess is provided within said housing and rearwardly of the opening, so as to allow for an elongate roll of film or wrap to be located therewithin. A pivotally mounted pressure flap is provided within the housing and is positioned above and apart from said support recess. A roll of film or wrap is adapted to be located within said support recess, with said pressure flap providing a downward pressure thereon.

  • Patent number: 4979414
Abstract: A tape dispenser includes a housing having at least one compartment that rotatably mounts a roll of adhesive tape. Integrally molded adjacent to each compartment is a hinged door movable between an open position, a closed postion and a tape severance position. The door is maintained in the closed position by the latching interaction of the edges of the door and a pair of wedge-shaped ramps disposed on opposing lateral walls of the compartment. An upwardly angled resilient tab is integrally molded with the housing and disposed within each compartment between a severance means and the rotatably mounted tape roll. The tab upwardly directs the distal end of the tape out of the compartment and presents the distal end of the tape to the user to facilitate withdrawal of the tape from the dispenser.

  • Patent number: 4624398
Abstract: An improved tape dispenser/receptacle having complimentary oblong-shaped top and bottom portions adapted to mate with each other, wherein the improvement consists of: first and second spool-dispensing axes, each axes composed of ten pegs; longitudinally-oriented inner and outer sets of ridges, extending downward from underneath the device's top portion; a plurality of tape exist and flattening apertures; resilient tabs extending outward from the device's side walls, in one-to-one correspondence with the exit/flattening apertures; and a cutting surface. The spool-dispensing axes hold rolls of tape or other material which may be marked with identifying indicia. The inner ridges touch the radial surface of the tape rolls to keep the rolls from wobbling during dispensing, while the outer ridges act as means to keep the tape straight en route through the exit/flattening apertures.

  • Patent number: 3991923
Abstract: In an adhesive tape holder means a sheathing plate is mounted to one end of the means in vertically movable relation with respect to a cutting blade rigidly fixed adjacent to said end; the sheathing plate has a sliding element engaged with a cam mounted adjacent to said plate and having one end projected outwardly from one side of the means by a spring. When a pushing force is applied to said end, the cam is forced to move across the axis of the means to move down the sheathing plate, causing the blade to come out of the plate. When the force is released, the cam returns to its original position and simultaneously the sheathing plate moves up to sheathe the blade.
