Abstract: An apparatus for determining a characteristic, such as body mass index number, for a person includes a housing having a panel with an edge portion, an intermediate portion, and a window formed in the intermediate portion. A member is movably secured to the housing and a peripheral portion of the member extends from the housing adjacent the panel edge portion. Indicia that indicates incremental units of a first characteristic is disposed on either the panel edge portion or the member peripheral portion. Indicia that indicates incremental units of a second characteristic is disposed on the other one of the panel edge portion or the member peripheral portion. Indicia that indicates incremental units of a third characteristic is disposed on the member and is viewable through the window. Movement of the member to align first indicia units with second indicia units causes display of third indicia units via the window.
Abstract: A wheel chart having at least one rigid disk formed by a compact disk which, in addition to having a mirrored or reflective layer capable of carrying reproducible information, has legible matter on an obverse side which cooperates with a member such as a transparent rigid disk which can also bear indicia to enable calculations to be made by relative rotation of the disks.
Abstract: The present invention is a menstrual cycle calculation device, including a calendar, which has a time period spanning more than two months displayed thereon. The device includes a first date indicator movable with respect to the calendar to identify a first date on the calendar. This first date corresponds to a first day for taking a first cycle of an oral contraceptive regimen. The device also includes at least one range indicator that moves in a corresponding manner with the first date indicator to show a range between two dates on the calendar. This range corresponds to days wherein a menstrual period is expected. The present invention also is directed towards a method for calculating dates of menstrual cycles several months in advance using such a device.

Abstract: A multiple-dose powder inhaler comprising an inhaler body defining a medicament container, an air channel, a mouthpiece, a rotatable metering drum with one or more peripheral dosing recesses and a dose counter for indicating the number of metered doses of medicament that have been dispensed from, or remain in, the medicament container. The inhaler is useful, for example, in the treatment of asthma.

Abstract: A combination ball marker and stroke indicator device (10,20) has a first disc member (12,22) having a ground piercing pin (12b,22b) extending from a bottom face surface rotatably received through a pin receiving aperture (14a,24a) in a second disc member (14,24). Stroke indicating indicia (14b) are arranged on the top face surface of the second disc member and selectively alignable with a window (12a,22a) formed in the first disc member. A ground traction surface configuration (24e,24e′,24e″) is preferably formed on the bottom face surface of the second disc member. An annular recess (22d) may be formed in one of the disc members, for example, in the bottom face surface of the second disc member, to provide clearance between the indicia on the second disc member and the facing surface of the first disc member.
Abstract: A wheel chart having at least one rigid disk formed by a compact disk which, in addition to having a mirrored or reflective layer capable of carrying reproducible information, has legible matter on an obverse side which cooperates with a member such as a transparent rigid disk which can also bear indicia to enable calculations to be made by relative rotation of a disk and a member juxtaposed therewith.
Abstract: A method of operating a multistage counter in only one counting direction includes the step of changing a counter reading of a single-stage auxiliary counter at given counter readings of the multistage counter. The single-stage auxiliary counter and the multistage counter can only be changed in one counting direction. Respective counter readings of the multistage counter and of the single-stage auxiliary counter are registered. Values of the respective counter readings of the single-stage auxiliary counter and of the multistage counter are compared with one another, and an indicator signal is generated based on a comparison result determined in the comparing step.
