Radiator Type Patents (Class 236/22)
  • Patent number: 8935110
Abstract: A system for analyzing an interior energy system including: at least one detachable sensor arranged to monitor a portion of the interior energy system; and an apparatus including a processor configured to receive data of a first parameter of the interior energy system from the at least one detachable sensor and determine a second parameter of the interior energy which is inferred on the basis of the received data of the first parameter; and determine a characteristic of the interior energy system from the determined second parameter. The system may provide analysis of the interior energy system and recommend improvements.

  • Patent number: 7744008
Abstract: The system of the present invention provides energy saving control for a water heater via an intelligent thermostat. This intelligent thermostat provides programmatic control over the HVAC system as is conventional, and provides coordinated control over the water heater temperature set point. This control over the water heater is accomplished via a communications network between the intelligent thermostat and the water heater. In one embodiment the communications are wireless, although wired and network bus communications may also be utilized. Enhanced and coordinated control is also provided so that different operational temperature cycles can be provided to coordinate with the intelligent thermostat's programmatic control of the HVAC system. Separate programmatic control of the water heater is also provided whereby different operational temperature modes may be commanded, e.g. Wake, Sleep, and Demand modes of operation.

  • Patent number: 7469550
Abstract: An energy saving control for appliances via an intelligent thermostat is provided. This intelligent thermostat provides programmatic control over the HVAC system, and provides coordinated control over the appliances. This control over the appliances is accomplished via a communications network between the intelligent thermostat and the appliances. The appliances include occupancy sensors and transmit usage and occupancy information to the intelligent thermostat. The intelligent thermostat processes this information to determine the occupancy of the dwelling. The thermostat controls the HVAC system and the appliances according to the determined occupancy of the dwelling.

  • Patent number: 4599992
Abstract: A hot water heating system for a building has a hot water storage tank, a combustor, a burner for firing the combustor, a plurality of radiators, a pump for circulating hot water to and from the plurality of radiators, a first thermostat for measuring the temperature of the hot water in the storage tank and for controlling the burner in response to such temperature, a heat exchanger in the storage tank, a cold water inlet line, and a hot water outlet line. The improvement comprises a cold water heating element arranged around a portion of the inlet line, a temperature sensing element arranged in close proximity to the heating element, and a second thermostat for anticipatorily controlling firing of the combustor by the burner via the first thermostat. Also, the second thermostat, via an electrical line, shuts off the pump when the second thermostat is causing firing of the combustor by the burner.
