Steam Patents (Class 237/40)
  • Patent number: 11592115
Abstract: A fluid valve comprises a valve housing having at least one fluid inlet and at least one fluid outlet and having a valve axis. At least one of the inlet and outlet is arranged in a wall extending circumferentially about the valve axis. The valve further comprises a rotary valve body arranged within the valve housing for rotation about the valve axis. The rotary valve body comprises a frusto-conical valve body wall and at least one inlet or outlet valve body opening through the valve body wall, the valve body being rotatable about the valve axis so as selectively to place the valve housing inlet and valve housing outlet into fluid communication via the at least one valve body opening. The at least one inlet or outlet valve body opening is a slot which extends in the direction of the valve axis.

  • Patent number: 5840248
Abstract: A moist-heat sterilization apparatus is provided which comprises a boiler shell (3), a chamber (4) inside said boiler shell (3), a heating block (14) external to said chamber (4) and in contact with the boiler shell (3), a feeding circuit (12) to supply the heating block (14) with water, and a conveying circuit (26) extending between the heating block (14) and chamber (4), the heating block (14) comprising canalization members (31) interposed between the feeding (12) and conveying (26) circuits and heating members (30) adapted to create a first steam flow through the canalization members (31). The process consists in admitting a first steam flow into a boiler shell, collecting the condensation water of the first steam flow and heating the boiler shell in such a manner that a second steam flow is produced from the condensed water.

  • Patent number: 4502392
Abstract: A heat transfer apparatus adapted for installation in a mobile liquid container such as a railroad tank car. The apparatus includes inlet and outlet ports at opposite ends of a continuous finned pipe. The continuous finned pipe extends within the container to provide a surface for conductive heat transfer from the heat transfer fluid flowing through the pipe to the contents of the container. The continuous finned pipe is provided with shock absorbers and flexible loop portions to prevent damage to the apparatus from inertial shocks to the container. A preferred embodiment is designed particularly for use in railroad tank cars adapted to carry molten sulfur. The apparatus is used to remelt the sulfur, which has solidified in transit, for unloading.
