Two such expansion links are separated from one another to form a gap, and an extension arrangement is interposed between them to span such gap. The extension arrangement includes a plurality of extension links situated next to one another. Any desired number of the extension links, as well as the connecting expansion links, are connected to one another to give the extension arrangement the length desired for extending the annular element. Each of the links to be connected includes at least one of the following two counterpart formations: a pair of lugs spaced from one another transversely of the annular element and each provided with a through aperture therein, and a sleeve-shaped portion bounding an elongated passage.

The harness has an a top opening through which a timepiece, when inserted, is made visible. The bottom of the harness has two oppositely extending flexible tab portions which support the timepiece in place within the harness. The harness is circular and flexible enough to accommodate a wide range of timepiece configurations. In one embodiment, molded cutouts line the inner wall of the harness and are arranged in locations that correspond with control buttons of a specific timepiece configuration.

The second locking mechanism consists of a cover plate and a pair of depending pivot arms, the arms being mounted in the clasp frame sidewalls at the end oppose the free end of the band. Abstract: A watchband securing device includes a variable length rod extending between opposed watch case horns. One of the horns is pivotally connected to the watch case and one end of the rod is connected to the pivotable horn. This enables the rod to pivot laterally between open and closed positions away from and towards the watch case, respectively. After a watchband is threaded on the rod in the open position, the rod is rotated towards the closed position until the opposite end of the rod engages the opposed horn. A camming surface is provided between the rod and the opposed horn that causes the rod to be shortened against a spring force as it engages the opposed horn so that it can become aligned with a bore hole in the opposed horn and engage the borehole by the spring force extending the rod length. To release the rod from the opposed horn, a manual push piece is provided to enable manual shortening of the rod so that it clears the borehole and releases the rod for pivotal motion towards the open position.

Abstract: A wrist instrument has an expandable strap for use in securing the instrument about a wearer's wrist. The expandable strap has a strap casing or a sheath on each end and an interconnecting member attached to the strap casings. The interconnecting member includes a non-expandable section and at least one elastic member housed in one of the strap casings. The elastic member is attached to both the strap casing housing it and the non-expandable section of the interconnecting member such that when a pulling force is exerted on the interconnecting member, the elastic member expands within the strap casing to allow the strap to accommodate different wrist sizes without exposing the elastic member to view.

The connector includes metal bottom and top components. The bottom component has a rear end configured to underlie the terminal link of the watchband, and a front end with mutually spaced projections, at least two of which define hollow guides. The top component has a rear end configured to overlie the rear end of the bottom component, and a front end with mutually spaced flanges aligned with and bent around the projections on the bottom component to form second lugs separated by second sockets. The top component is joined to the bottom component with the terminal link of the watchband captured therebetween. The first and second lugs are adapted to be received respectively in the second and first sockets.

The closure comprises two closure parts (1, 2) and at least one permanent magnet (16) and a yoke (9), which form parts of a magnetic circuit. Said magnetic circuit is disposed inside a shield (6) made of a ferromagnetic material and closed as far as possible on all sides. Between the magnetic circuit (9, 15, 16) and said shield or other closure parts there is no metallic contact whatsoever with elements of high permeability, the magnetic circuit is instead isolated from the shield or from other closure parts by air gaps (22, 23) and fastening elements (14) of a low permeability close to the value of air.

Abstract: An interchangeable clasp comprising a clasp body having a plurality of interconnecting elements consisting of a spring loaded connector member and a receiving recess. The connector typically comprises a hollow cylindrical sleeve and a rigid rod having an outside diameter less than the inner diameter of the hollow cylindrical sleeve. The rigid rod has a proximal end and an opposite distal end with respect to the hollow cylindrical sleeve. The proximal end is engaged with a spring mechanism within the hollow cylindrical sleeve that biases the distal end of the rod to a distal position and allows for movement of the rod between a proximal and a distal position. The distal end culminates in a head member with exterior dimensions such that the head member is capable of being removably inserted within, and retained by a cap end of the receiving recess. The receiving recess is cylindrical in dimension, has an opening through its outer wall and is capped at opposite ends for engaging the connector.

A coil spring (15) on the pin (9) biases the flap (8) towards said portion (9c) of the pin (9). When the flap (8) is in the folded down or locking position, said portion (9c) of the pin (9) is inserted into the inlet (14a) of the passage (14), thereby locking the flap (8).

A device enabling the two plates to be locked onto each other in a closed position comprises a first tongue (4) raised on the base plate (1) and a second tongue (5) raised on the hinged plate (2). In a closed position the two tongues are situated back to back and head to tail. The existence of a double tongue enables the locking force of one plate on the other to be doubled.

Abstract: A connector is disclosed for joining two sections of an expansible watchband. The watchband sections have adjacent ends defined by endmost top and bottom links interconnected by pairs of mutually spaced staples. The connector comprises a unitary element having first and second sets of locking ears projecting laterally in opposite directions from opposite sides thereof. The connector has an initial laterally contracted configuration which accommodates its insertion between the endmost top and bottom links of the adjacent ends of the watchband sections, with the first and second sets of locking ears having passed between and beyond the respective pairs of staples interconnecting the endmost top and bottom links. The thus inserted connector is permanently deformable into a laterally expanded configuration which causes its locking ears to mechanically interengage with the staples to thereby effect a connection between the watchband sections.

Abstract: A wristwatch radiotelephone has a plurality of substantially rigid segments connected to one another in a series by adjustable connection mechanisms connected between adjacent segments in the series. The connection mechanisms allow the segments to be arranged either in an annular array when the apparatus is to be worn on the wrist as a wristwatch, or in a more elongated array when the apparatus is to be used a hand-held radiotelephone.

Abstract: A watch band the effective length of which is elongated so that the watch can be worn on a ski glove is disclosed. An end of the band is folded back at a spring loaded pin attached to a case of a watch at one side thereof and connected to the pin. A middle portion of the band is folded back at a connecting link having a slit. The other end of the band is secured to an adjusting link and fixed to a middle portion of the band by a grasping portion provided on the adjusting link.

Abstract: A buckle having a lock mechanism for a watch with opposite bands is disclosed. The lock mechanism (40) is provided in a frame member (20) secured to one of the bands (37). The lock mechanism comprises a lock lever (41) having a locking portion and a pressing-up lever (42) having a pressing-up slant, each of the levers being laterally slidably mounted in the frame member, and a spring (43) provided so as to outwardly urge both the levers. A clasp (30) attached to the other band has a lock member corresponding to the lock lever and a pressing-up slant member (34) corresponding to the pressing-up lever. The lock lever engages with the lock member to lock the clasp. When the lock is released, the pressing-up lever pushes up the pressing-up slant member, thereby disengaging the clasp. The locking portion of the lock lever and the pressing-up slant of the pressing-up lever are disposed so as to overlap with each other.

Abstract: A pair of fasteners for a wristwatch strap having two ends are connected to opposite sides of a watch case, each of which includes an arcuate catch element (3) provided with guide members (5, 28) extending longitudinally of the strap (2) and an end engagement member (11), and a pair of slide elements (16), each of which is provided with a latch member (20, 32) complementary to engagement member (11), are connected to the two ends of the strap. Each slide element (16) is slidable along a guide member (5, 28) between an advanced position, in which the strap (2) is shortest and in which a latch member (20, 32) engages an engagement member (1), and a retracted position, in which the strap (2) is longest.
