Abstract: Closure means for fastening a cover over the open end of a cylindrical drum, utilizing an annular split ring contoured to mate the cover to the drum. Included are a pair of depending lugs, extending from the ring on opposite sides of the split. Each of the lugs has a substantially parallel lateral face and a transverse opening therethrough. Spacer means are provided between the lugs. A tie bolt mounted through the openings of the lugs is tightened so the lugs are drawn together, contracting the ring. The spacer means between the lugs form a pivot point with the lugs, drawing the ring in a direction toward the pivot point.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided to shorten and/or fasten flat belts or straps for wrapping and hoisting a load. The apparatus includes a vertical base plate having a crane lug located in its upper portion. Also, at least three deflectors with free ends are mounted in spaced apart relation on the plate so as to project generally perpendicularly therefrom. The free ends of the straps or belts are inserted into the apparatus and pulled between and looped about the deflectors in a meandering fashion to affix the belts to the apparatus before hoisting the load.

Abstract: A clamping band for securing together two flanged members formed with annular flanges, such as a filter housing, comprises an elongated flexible member wrappable about the annular flanges of the two flanged members; a draw bolt and shackle for fixing the ends of the elongated flanged members; and a plurality of flat, rigid inserts receivable on the elongated flexible member and spaced along the length thereof, each of the rigid inserts being formed with a recess on one face, constituting its inner face, for receiving the flanges of the two flanged members.

Abstract: A clamp used mainly for connectively fixing a flexible hose, typified by a gas hose, water-service hose or the like, to the mouthpiece portion of a cock, joint or the like. The clamp comprises a clamping band formed of a single metal wire wound into a pair of circular rings adapted to loosely receive a hose therein, an operating lever formed of a metal strip disposed immediately above the overlap portion of the circular rings and pivotally engaged at its one end by one end of the winding of the clamping band, and a prop arm which connects the intermediate portion of the operating lever to the other end of the winding of the clamping band, the arrangement being such that by urging the operating lever at the other end thereof toward the circular rings of the clamping band, the lever action forces the opposite ends of the winding of the clamping band to move away from each other, thereby contractively deforming the opening diameter of the circular rings to effect the clamping of the hose.
