  • Patent number: 10239726
Abstract: A ribbon self-orienting device that is to be interposed between the source and the target of a traveling ribbon, either during winding of a ribbon into a traversed roll or during pay-off of a ribbon from a traversed roll. A pivoting frame is pivotally coupled to a frame support, at a pivot axis. First and second direction changing means coupled to the pivoting frame serve to change the direction of the traveling ribbon. A force transfer means transfers a transversely directed force, imparted by the traveling ribbon due to the ribbon traversing its traversed roll while under tension, to the pivoting frame causing the pivoting frame to move about the pivot axis. Other embodiments are also described.

  • Patent number: 8032246
Abstract: A winding procedure has been developed that results in substantially uniform material properties from the outside diameter to the core of a wound roll of elastomeric webs produced by vertical film lamination (VFL) or stretch bond lamination (SBL) or as registered film. The web material is wound onto the roll in accordance with a wound on tension (WOT) profile that varies with the diameter of the wound web in a manner that was calculated using WOT transposition that is based on a modified version of Hakiel's nonlinear model for wound roll stresses. A constant WOT winding profile is corrected to obtain a compensated WOT winding profile that can be employed to wind the material into a roll that exhibits properties (including MD stress in the web) that are substantially uniform thru-roll. This resulting controlled winding technique has immediate application for webs that are converted for child care products, adult care products, and infant care products.

The liners extend through an open slot in the top of the box and the innermost liner of the roll is securely attached to a cylindrical spindle on which the liners are wound. The dispenser also includes a reinforcing insert in the form of a piece of sheet stock in a U-shape partially surrounding the roll of liners. The box is detachably secured to the bottom of the trash container and the spindle is dimensioned so as not to pass through the slot. Accordingly, when the last liner in the box is used and removed from the container, the box is removed as well.

Abstract: A filament organizer comprises a support having a first surface opposite a second surface and further includes a lockable spool and a rotary spool adjacent to the first surface of the support. The organizer has a tensioner attached to the second surface of the support for attachment to the rotary spool by a tension wire to apply tension thereto to transmit tension to a filament disposed between the lockable spool and the rotary spool. Selective reduction in tension on a filament is possible using a tension relief assembly attached to the support. A stacked configuration of a plurality of filament organizers may be formed by suitable alignment of supports.

  • Patent number: 5759470
Abstract: The invented methods provide a means for reducing or eliminating manual astments that are required during the fabrication (winding) of fiber optic dispensers. This reduction is accomplished through the use of a fiber placement pattern that is permanently generated on the bobbin winding surface. Filaments, such as optical fibers, are precisely guided during the winding of subsequent filament layers by the embedded crossover pattern baselayer. The embedded crossover pattern baselayer is generated by first winding in a given direction a wire of a pre-selected diameter upon the polymer coating on the bobbin surface. The polymer is allowed to cure partially before the wire is unwound and removed. Afterwards a pre-selected optical fiber is wound in the direction opposite that of the wire winding direction thereby creating crossover patterns which are, then, manually adjusted to be in desired locations on the bobbin axis.

Abstract: An optical part module has an optical amplification fiber in a small space without damage or losing its optical characteristics. An optical amplification fiber connects optical parts in the case. The optical amplification fiber has a predetermined length which creates a large play in length. A part of the optical amplification fiber creating the play in length is wound on the bobbin. The winding operation is performed while turning the bobbin upside down for each single turn of the winding so that twist generated in the optical fiber due to winding is canceled.
