Loop Forming (e.g., Winding A Bundle Of Wire Coils) Patents (Class 242/360)
  • Patent number: 9963803
Abstract: A device for texturizing strand material into a wool-type product includes outer and inner nozzle sections. The outer and inner nozzle sections interface and define a passage through which the strand material travels. A locking device in the inner nozzle section is operable to selectively stop movement of the strand material. The locking device includes a seal holder that positions a sealing member within the inner nozzle section to prevent debris from entering the inner nozzle section, thereby promoting continued effective operation of the locking device. The outer nozzle section includes an end nozzle assembly including a hardened outlet tube. The hardened outlet tube is distinct from the outer nozzle section and, thus, can be repaired or replaced independently of the outer nozzle section.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and means to wind a pipeline in a spiral and thus prepare for storage or for transport to another location, while this pipeline is floating in circles next to each other (as a large spiral) in the water. The considered method only contains the part of laying the pipeline in a spiral in such a way that the spiralling is reproducible and the spiral keeps its round form during its the floating lifetime. After the spiral is unwound the pipeline will come back in its original form. The spiralling starts from a straight stretch of pipeline that will be wound around a central point where anchor lines and centre lines are part of the construction to produce the first winding. When the first winding is prepared it will be kept in place by only centre lines (1,2,3,4,5,6). Steel pipeline is very well to bend when it is in its area of elastic strain. It is possible to calculate at which radius a steel pipeline can be bend, without crossing the boundaries of elasticity.

Abstract: A method of ROV tether storage without the use of electrical rotary slip rings, and a tether storage drum. The heart of the Tether Storage System (TSS) invention involves the rotating beam with a powered tether sheave and guide plate on a circular track. The concept of a rotating beam with a powered tether sheave and beam drive motors in a single unit is uniquely different than any other tether storage and handling system. Rotating the sheave about the TSS frame's vertical axis is also unique. To accomplish this, preferably a drive motor is mounted at each end of the beam. A drive wheel on each motor reacts against the channel track to rotate the beam. Rollers at each end of the beam support and guide it. The tether is stored in a large circular basket below the sheave in the cylindrical frame. A guide plate attached to the sheave beam rests on top of the tether in the storage basket.
