  • Patent number: 11717056
Abstract: According to an embodiment, a device for tightening an article includes a housing, a spool rotatably positioned within the housing, a knob operably coupled with the spool to cause the spool to rotate within the housing, and a stop mechanism. The device is configured so that incremental rotation of the knob in a first direction causes a corresponding incremental rotation of the spool within the housing that incrementally tensions a tension member and thereby tightens the article. The device is also configured so that incremental rotation of the knob in a second direction causes a corresponding incremental rotation of the spool that incrementally loosens the tension member's tension. The stop mechanism is configured to prevent rotation of the spool in the second direction when the tension member's tension achieves or falls below a tension threshold.

  • Patent number: 10042066
Abstract: A passive, automatic cable winding system is coupled by a cable to a seismic source or streamer and automatically adjusts a payout of the cable connecting the seismic source or streamer to a float. The passive, automatic cable winding system includes a tensioning system configured so that when the seismic source or streamer is deployed during a seismic survey the water exerts force on the seismic source or streamer and the passive, automatic cable winding system pays out the cable so that the seismic source or streamer is at the desired depth for the seismic survey. When the seismic source or streamer is pulled out of the water during recovery, the passive, automatic winding system reduces the length of the cable between the float and the seismic source or streamer, and thus reduces the chances of the cable becoming tangled during recovery.

Abstract: A reel device includes a reel rotatably supported in a casing of a blind. A guide is mounted on an end of the reel. The guide includes an abutting point against which a cord of the blind abuts. The guide further includes an extension extending toward the other end of the reel. A line passing the abutting point and an end edge of the guide is at an acute angle with a line orthogonal to a longitudinal axis of the reel. When a section of the cord reaches the abutting point and the end edge of the guide, an acute angle is created, and this acute angle of the section of the cord avoids two forces that act on the cord in opposite direction from acting on the same line. Thus, overlapping of the turns of the cord on the reel is avoided.

Abstract: A razor wire dispensing and retrieving apparatus for installing razor wire along a perimeter to create a protective border and collecting the wire when the border is no longer desired. The razor wire dispensing and receiving apparatus essentially comprises a frame with a wire hanger and a wire spreader. The wire hanger and spreader function to permit efficient dispensing, retrieving, and transport of razor wire. Moreover, the frame attaches to a variety of vehicles, including military vehicles. As the vehicle travels along a perimeter, the apparatus dispenses wire from the hanger while the spreader keeps the wire aligned. The apparatus also includes a means of pivoting the frame on a horizontal axis. Pivoting the frame down from the dispensing position permits the apparatus to be used as a wire-retrieving device. In this position, the wire is loaded back onto the hanger as the spreader keeps the wire aligned.
