Joining Ends Of Material (e.g., Knotting, Splicing) Patents (Class 242/475.1)
  • Patent number: 9804143
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for monitoring the quality of a yarn on a textile machine, wherein the yarn passes a monitoring unit of the textile machine, with the aid of which at least one measured variable (M) which is dependent on a physical parameter of the yarn is determined, and wherein the measured variable (M), or a variable derived therefrom, is evaluated with respect to the position thereof with regard to at least one reference value (R). According to the invention, it is proposed that the selection of the reference value(s) (R) takes place taking into account one or more characteristic variables of the yarn, said characteristic variables being yarn-specific and defined prior to evaluating the measured variable (M). Furthermore, a textile machine is proposed which comprises at least one monitoring unit for monitoring at least one physical parameter of the yarn, and at least one controller which is operatively connected to the monitoring unit.

  • Patent number: 7874337
Abstract: The present invention relates to an apparatus for laying a material sheet on a number of cylindrical bodies, for example sleeves of paperboard or the like, which are employed within, int.al. the papermaking industry for winding a manufactured paper web, sheet web or the like, a conveyor being disposed to advance the cylindrical bodies in the longitudinal direction thereof to, past and away from a unit for supplying a material web to the bodies, and the conveyor being divided into at least two sections, of which the one is disposed to displace the cylindrical bodies in their longitudinal direction up to connection with the end of the preceding body, and of which the second section is disposed to positively rotate the cylindrical bodies about their longitudinal axis and displace the cylindrical bodies in the direction of their longitudinal axis during application of the material web, with the desired spacing between the edges of the applied material web.

  • Patent number: 6889493
Abstract: Apparatus for forming a spliced yarn includes a yarn conduction member with an intermingling jet disposed forwardly thereof. The yarn conduction member has respective yarn conduction channels through which the first and second yarns are conveyed to the intermingling jet. The yarn conduction member has a first and second knife blade disposed adjacent to one of the yarn conduction channels. The first and second knives are insertable into and retractable from the channel to which they are adjacent. In the inserted position the passage in the knife aligns with the channel into which it is inserted, while in the retracted position the solid portion of the blade interdicts the passage to prevent movement of a yarn therethrough.

  • Patent number: 6817169
Abstract: A service unit for restarting a spinning operation at work stations (2) of an open-end spinning machine (1) after replacement of a cheese (8) with an empty tube in the winding device of a work station, comprises an auxiliary yarn supply device (21) and a yarn moving device (23) for fixing a new spinning yarn on the tube. The yarn moving device (23) is movable from a resting position (R) entraining the auxiliary yarn (24) to the winding device (4), and, after restarting the spinning operation, for positioning the yarn (7) connected to the auxiliary yarn (24) in a slot created by a tube plate opener (32) of the service unit between one of the tube plates (30) of the winding device (4) and an end of the tube (10). The yarn (7) is subsequently severed by a cutting device (31), and stored intermediately in a storage device (55).

  • Publication number: 20040195426
Abstract: A method for unwinding tacky elastomeric yarn from one or multiple coiled yarn packages includes the steps of (a) removing tubular cores from each yarn package to expose the beginning end of the yarn strand at the inner diameter of the yarn package; (b) forming a terminal end of the yarn strand at a position along the length of the strand between the inner diameter and outer diameter of the yarn package; (c) when unwinding multiple coiled yarn packages, attaching the terminal end of the first yarn package to a beginning end of a next yarn package; and (d) unwinding by pulling the beginning end of the first yarn package in a generally axial direction to remove yarn from the inside of the package from the inner diameter toward the outer diameter. This method provides inside-out unwinding of a single package, or continuous unwinding of multiple packages of elastomeric yarn at a reduced overall yarn tension, and minimizes unwinding tension spikes.
