Abstract: A winding condition generating apparatus includes: an input unit; an output unit; and a condition calculation unit. A winding condition calculation unit includes a learning model created by machine learning using a combination of a winding parameter and a winding condition in producing a wound web that satisfies a target winding quality as training data, and calculates a winding condition of a new wound web using the learning model, from a winding parameter of a new wound web input through the input unit. The output unit outputs the winding condition. The winding parameter includes a web width, a web transport velocity, and a web winding length. The winding condition includes a tension of the web at the start of winding and a tension of the web at the end of winding.

Abstract: A roll forming mechanism can include a passive roll-up mechanism that initiates the roll and an active roll-up mechanism that completes the roll. The active roll-up mechanism can include an upper conveyor that is rotated in different directions. The upper conveyor can initially be rotated in a direction opposite that of an inclined conveyor to cause a forming roll to advance along the inclined conveyor. The rotation of the upper conveyor can then be reversed to cause the roll to be completed. Then, the upper conveyor can again be rotated in the direction opposite that of the inclined conveyor to cause the completed roll to be transferred towards the stacking conveyor. The amount by which the upper conveyor is rotated in the reverse direction can be based on a detected length of a tail of the forming roll.

Abstract: A machine forms a roll of convolutely wound web material. The machine includes a winding apparatus configured to receive a mandrel and the web material and wind the web material around the mandrel. A pulling device pulls the mandrel longitudinally to remove the mandrel from the roll after forming the roll. The machine further includes a restraint that engages the peripheral surface of the roll when the mandrel is pulled longitudinally to remove the mandrel from the roll. A method is also provided. In one aspect of the method, a web material is wound around a mandrel to form a roll of convolutely wound web material. The mandrel is pulled longitudinally after the step of winding the web material around the mandrel. The periphery of the roll is restrained from moving axially when the mandrel is pulled longitudinal. The mandrel is then removed from the roll.

Abstract: A method controls the response rate and profile of a variable parameter. The method determines an error value for a first variable parameter as the difference between a first parameter set point and a first parameter analog value. An output, controlled by a first variable-process-parameter control loop, adjusts according to the determined error value to adjust the parameter analog value and thereby reduce the error value at a response rate. The first variable-process-parameter control loop has a gain. The gain of the first variable-process-parameter control loop determines the response rate and the response profile. The analog value of a second variable parameter determines the gain. Adjusting the response rate of the control loop may provide a means of adjusting an error correction response profile of the first variable parameter.

Abstract: An apparatus for signaling rotation of a winch in which a rotating gear internal in the winch turns an optical disc with alternating segments of distinguishing features. The disc is then in turn read by an optical sensor that can generate a pulsed output signal based on the travel of the alternating segments on the disc. The output signal of the optical sensor is then conditioned to drive a solenoid that is placed in a control lever of the winch. The optical disc and the optical sensor are part of a self-contained unit which can be inserted internally into the winch housing.

Prior to rewinding of the photosensitive material, a distance between concave portions of guide members which constitute a guide portion is set to be substantially equal to the photosensitive material width and a nipping state between a pair of pulling-out rollers is cancelled. Because the nipping state is cancelled, the photosensitive material can be displaced in a width direction. Therefore, the photosensitive material can be rewound into the magazine while maintaining the predetermined disposition, and any skew is corrected by the concave portions of the guide members.
